As I write I wonder if I am asking a really simple stupid question, anyway here goes:
If in a horse race:
Horse One has decimal odds of 2
Horse Two has decimal odds of 4.
Does this mean that horse Two is considered twice as unlikely to win compared to horse One?

I note Mr. Webb, you understand both fractions and decimals (and probably imperial as well as metric measurements). I'm guessing that you like me, were one of the last educated in England to take the rigorous O'level exams rather than the appalling GCSEs that kids of today take. Y, I whizz off fractions or percentages in a flash and convert them easily. My kids look at me with a confused look on their face and thing Dad's a geek but I was taught that way. I think staring at them has improved my ability to convert quicker, it's curious how you can 'see' fractional odds in the market.
After I was trained by Ladbrokes, I'd amaze people by telling them 8/13 as a fraction was 0.615384!

I'm the same LeTiss.I had the same training but with a different firm.
I think working in a betting shop would be a good grounding for anybody wanting to go into sports trading. Though I dont know whether they give you the same type of training as they used to, might just all be about the FOBTs now.
I remember I got 100% in my bet settling exam,only exam ive ever got 100 per cent in! It was only a one week course, though what i learnt that week never left me.
I know almost instantly now how many trebles in 6 selections, how many combination f/casts and tri/casts there are in x number of runners, what 13/8 is as a decimal etc!
