Noticed my internet was running slower than normal today - about 1mb instead of the usual 6mb. I contacted my isp (idnet) and after checking my line told me that exchanges across the country are getting hammered every time a world cup match is on as people watch it over the net whilst at work!!
sure enough - after the Portugal/Ivory coast match was over my speeds went up!!
I have now upgraded my service to give me priority at the exchange (extra £10/month) - no guarantees it will make a difference though.
Anyone else experienced this problem?

I thought the same but haven't been in touch with my ISP but like you when a game is on during working hours my internet hasn't been as good as it has in the past. It doesn't seem to slow in the evening like during the day as I guess most people stop the wife from watching Eastenders and put the footy on the TV.
