How many broken legs etc. I am going to have to see in my lifetime in top class football matches?

I never remember seeing this many when I watched football as a youngster.

The first one I ever saw was Gordon Cowans for Villa, but you're right it seems to happen more and more these days

What seems to be particularly on the increase are things like Valencia's broken leg - it wasn't a dreadful tackle, he just seemed to get his foot stuck in the turf

I'm not sure whether modern day boots are to blame, or the hard pitches which don't have so much give as the mudbaths of our youth

yeah it's the modern boots digging in, i think.

Not a nice thing to happen to anyone, but i wish i was getting paid 50k + a week while i recoverd when i broke mine .
