from the Daily Mail..

WORLD CUP COINCIDENCE

Quarter-final matches

number of letters in name of country left in competition (7) or (6)

Uruguay (7) vs France (6)

Brazil (6) vs Belgium (7)

England (7) vs Sweden (6)

Russia (6) vs Croatia (7)

Games to be played on July 6 and 7.

6+7=13 and there are 13 letters in..

“it's coming home”

I find this bizarre
I love stuff like that

Yes I saw that.

I cant help but dream. I wonder what would happen if we won it with knighthoods. Would it be the whole squad, just the players that played, just Southgate and maybe Kane? I've no idea, im not too clued up on that kind of thing. And would it happen this year or somewhere down the line?

Anyway time to wake up, weve got a quarter final to win

Isn’t England’s Fifa ranking 13th?

Knighthoods should be for lifelong service to your country, not for winning a few games of football or batting a ball around in your mid 20s. Completely undermines the institution that was meant to recognise exceptional people. Soldiers with legs missing have to buy their own prosthetics while people playing games get gongs. It's ridiculous. An OBE or CBE at most would be more appropriate.

Yeah, I guess it would set a precedent for team sports if they went over the top with it too.

Sir Nick Pope, services to keeping the bench warm.

Doesnt quite sound right

I know i'm just a miserable sob sometimes about these things ....I just think perspective gets lost on occassions like this. I'm a bit of a traditionalist deep down too and I don't approve of most of the people being given the highest possible honours. :)

One thing's certain and that's that the public are fickle, rotten tomatoes or a statue in Trafalgar Square, very little inbetween.

I agree with you Shaun but I would feel peeved if Southgate didn't get one when Woodward got one so relatively easily.

So with all the japes, jests and ridiculous amounts of drinking tomorrow are we likely to see some horses well backed in based on the name alone?

Had a quick shifty and possibles include:

Dream of Dreams
Yabass
God Given
Smooth Sailing
One to Go
I am a Dreamer
Roaring Lion!
Mythmaker
Champoinez

Time to get that accumulator on!

.. and all the letters add up to 52,

5+2=7 (England has 7 letters),

2018 minus 52 = 1966

this is seriously spooky

and when you consider that the door was open to allow Panama, Saudi etc in but closed to Italy and Holland its not for the want of discrimination in favour of other continents.
