Would it be possible to allow bets under £2 please?
This would be useful for people trying out new strategies, who want to keep their liabilities to an absolute minimum.

Betting under £2
Hi LeTiss
I appreciate you can appreciate it by messing about, but that's not something you want to do in the cut and thrust of trading 3 minutes before the off!
If Betfair do insist on this, then it's not something they enforce, as it's possible to bet and lay under £2 using another platform I've previously used.

Tread carefully though, I was shocked to read another forum post recently about Betfair closing accounts for people who abuse this too much
Betfair actually prohibit this in their T&C's which is why we have never gone so far as specifically allowing it. However you can achieve this by going into dutching or bookmaking and using the 'back / lay with a stake of' function.

with other software it has always been possible to bet as low as you wanted (far below the £2 limit)

When I started with BA in september i used to place bets all over the place 0.05p 0.10p 0.20p 0.50p etc etc using dutching bookmaking lay all, I have never had a warning from Betfair. I have actually send them e-mail with the bf bets record to ask them some questions, They did not say anything about the low money I was placing in to the market..I think I placed something like 10000 bets under 0.50p in 24 days of activity..Everything changed now but, when I am on new strategys I am still using pennys to try out.
Providing the facility to do something and encouraging it are not necessarily the same thing...
Two commercial platforms I know of allow betting under £2, so if Betfair had a major problem with it, presumably they would have stopped doing so ages ago.

Hi
I have tried literally dozens and dozens of systems (all at £2 and above)...and even the ones that dont work lose very little to be honest? (Caveat: The systems were well planned and I avoided the pitfalls that were obvious)
Even if you completely trade at random you will not lose your shirt. (There are some early postings on here that support this argument by BA whereby trades were placed at noon each day)..
I also did a post on here whereby I auto traded the pre race and traded something like £2K during the day and lost less than a tenner. So Is it really worthwhile trading less than £2 ?
I'm not saying jump in at the deep end straight away; but to learn to swim you have to get wet too
Regards
Peter
PS Trading <2 also placed more bets, so you have to mindful of the 1000/Hr and it is also slower isnt it as the stake has to be adjusted...

Hi Peter
If only that were the case with my experimentations!
When trying out a new approach, I think it's important to be able to do so with confidence. It's hard to do that when you're constantly thinking 'I hope this goes OK, because I can't afford to keep losing money!'. But if I were losing literally pennies, I would consider it a small price to pay for tuition by the markets!
