I don't actually have a house phone anymore, got rid of it. Don't see the point in paying £20 a month line rental for basically nothing.
The benefit of a landline to me anyway is the persistence of the number. I wouldn't want to become uncontactable if I lost my mobile and then forgot to tell business, hospitals or banks my new number. It's a security thing too, my landline can only be answered by me.

Times have probably changed but I also thought certain institutions only dealt with you if you had a landline? I certainly wouldn't do business with anyone who only had a mobile that couldn't be traced to a physical address. Maybe that's because I remember when only having a mobile meant you were a bit shifty.

You calling me shifty Shaun ? :D

I think if you want some types of credit then you still need a fixed landline etc.

But i don't envisage obtaining further credit in the UK.

I actually have 2 mobile phones on the same contract. But I am not a drug dealer.

Hello everyone,

This happened to me in the 4-40 at Nottingham today (didn't green up). It was automation which laid in this race at 3.6. The green up is set to trigger twice in the last few seconds. It says it greened up at 5.8 in the log, but it didn't go through in reality, so I lost £12.41, instead of profiting from a good move. Never happened before, and quite frustrating as it was a good move, and I was at home, but in a different room, otherwise I would have manually greened. Any ideas? Internet was fine.

....Or rather, it did something at the green up, but I'm not sure how it got to this.
