For the first time ever I just hit my usual Guardian commands to load up future markets and the screen remained completely blank.

Thats from the Imperial College projection? I admit it loosened my bowels. We just have to be adaptable. Thats what humans do brilliantly.
Admittedly, I'm struggling to be an adaptable capitalist. But thats the objective.

yeah icl.
That's what the scientists were worried about day 1; the population won't be able to handle it. We've just gotta pray the Chinese data comes out good. They're the precedent.
As things stand though, the "switch on/switch off" model is wrong (China & South Korea etc haven't had 2nd waves), let's hope it stays that way - or there's gonna be unrest come late 2020
The big worry for me is India and Africa.ruthlessimon wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:45 pmyeah icl.

Worst case USA 2.5 million. Extrapolate that over a vast community with poor health care and its dreadful.
The biggest argument for us taking it on the chin and getting immune health workers out there.
But I can't see any justification for 510,000 deaths.
As I said, it's the first time I've felt sorry for Boris Johnson.
Doesn't look like any good outcome, we just have to stick together.

People,
Can we get real please.
While my heart goes out to the ones who have died and there families and friends remember that there are the worlds best scientists working 24/7 to come up with some sort of vaccine or way to reduce effects. I realise that is little comfort to the ones fighting the clock hour by hour but every country in the world at some point has been to hell and back.
I can’t speak for what’s happening outside of the UK with any real knowledge, authority or facts but here I have witnessed the best and worse humanity has to offer. Deliberately coughing on an elderly person while laughing is beyond words and the culprits should receive the birch in public.
Look after yourselves, each other and families while being sensible, we are all adults and no what and what not to do.
Have some faith and trust in those individuals working overtime to find a solution.
Take care.

Any views why China hasn't quickly re-escalated? I was expecting the result of their speedy and tight lockdown to be a second wave by now.

Could be good news and something the world can look forward to, or, it could be China are concealing something they know will send the world into extra panic mode.
