Hey folks,

So we bumped into a new surprise this week, all of a sudden without any communication ( of course ! ) deposits are forbidden from Hungary.

Called and asked to couple of customer reps, no success of an answer.

Apparently no trouble in UK or some other countries. :geek:

Are there any other Eastern Europe , non UK based members here have the same trouble ?

Regards,

Betfair circulated a notification, new registrations blocked from the 5th May and as of 18th May they are no longer offering any products to customers from a Russian country of origin

What’s the reason, have these countries been flagged as rife for money laundering activities or something ?

These countries generally want to control and monopolize betting within their own borders to avoid money leaking away to foreign shores.

This. Because they usually can't compete with UK bookies.

Isn't Napshnap from Russia? I heard they've got a bit of a trading community going over there, this will no doubt complicate things for many of them.

I was in Slovakia when their government banned access to betfair. Bizarrely, the official web page you got re-directed to actually stated that it was not illegal for customers to bypass the block, and even said that they expected people to use VPNs to get around it.

Is API access still working in Hungaria ? What was the situation in HUN before BF blocked site ? Was it in "grey" zone ? I heard that there were no restrictions till now. Are there any traders in HUN planning to move to another country ? Thanks

So as of yesterday, game over for Hungary.

Accounts from Hungary get closed and no more access/ registration possible.

They suggested to withdraw remaining balances ASAP. :!:

So who knows which country is next?

Slovakia + Croatia + Romania + Bulgaria remains from the Eastern Europe.
