US Presidential Election 2020
Before VAR it still would have been simpler to let traders manage their own bets and newbies (who should be trading to £2 stakes) can learn the hard way. With VAR and all the complications that go with it, it would be even simpler to let the market run from whistle to whistle, close and then settle on the final result.Tuco wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 3:51 pmPersonally I don't think Betfair should suspend any market for any reason once it has begun, until the time arrives for it to be settled. That includes football markets and any/all others. The market will or will not determine the correct price.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 3:32 pmon't understand why they suspended it, if Trump was at deaths door then fine but by all accounts he's OK. Luckily I don't have any open positions in the market but feel for others who might
I'd rather she was president and not because I've got a soft spot for her. She's got a good head on her shoulders and will easily make 100.Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 4:36 pmMy sympathy for Trump is exactly zero, but worse still than your scenario, as I'm sure people know, if Trump and Pence are unable to assume office, Pelosi would become president. The absolute scenes were that to happen![]()

I greened up at 2.92. Disappointed.Anbell wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:04 amThanks. Trump... 3.05/3.1 seems low to me given that he was 2.5 before catching a deadly virus, but I don't know anything. I only took $800 at 2.76, on the theory that there was a good chance he'd test positive, so I'll trade out whenever the markets open, at whatever price.TraderFred wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 8:58 amYes Smarkets now halted, Betdaq still open.
Current prices:
Biden.... 1.57/1.58
Trump... 3.05/3.1
Pence.... 34/ 39
Trump out to 3.2
Pence 34
Maybe he has more than a mild fever ?

What me, you, or anyone else thinks about Pelosi - or Trump for that matter - is irrelevant (in this narrow context obv) imho. The US and the world at large do not need the absolute shithousery that's bound to occur if the scenario, of someone representing the opposite party of the elected President becoming potus, should come to pass. The line of potential presidents was iirc implemented more with a view towards wartime. In other words a time where a nation traditionally is united. Right now the United States couldn't be further from being united.Derek27 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 4:58 pmI'd rather she was president and not because I've got a soft spot for her.
