One of the most noticeable changes on the Exchanges has been Political markets.Euler wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 10:32 amI think that was a pivotal market in my betting career. Not just in terms of scale or anything, but in terms of how the market acted, how the voting process went what path people followed.
It always surprise me when information is presented in a clear manner, but it still splits opinion.
I had closing positions on Biden at various prices but none were taken, giving me a final bonus.
10 years ago, they were dead. Whereas now they are huge markets
I'm not sure we will get another one like that, most Politicians are about as interesting as watching paint dry.
I don't care about personal feelings towards Trump or what's perceived as wrong or right from individual sides of the Isle. What I do know is he was so devisive and I personally feel that's why this market was so strong.
Like I said on Election night, love him or hate him, he's the reason behind the money & for that reason I really, really hope he runs again in 2024.

They're a little sore because their own beliefs shafted them right up the rear end.
I think they're Bitching about the market being settled but the rules are the rules.
I would have doubled my loot if Trump had of won, it's the risk that I & they were prepared to take, obviously they just didn't understand the rules around the risk they were taking.
If you were scratching your head towards the end of this trying to understand why people just wouldn't except it, I've come across a rather intelligent chap that explains it. No idea who he is, just randomly popped up on my YouTube homepage.

Holy crap, that's an absolutely mindblowing video. Just wow. I've seen that cited behaviour a thousand times and Peter's personal example is simply astonishing. I love that he translates this "odd" behaviour as a reason that ineffeciencies exist in the market.jamesg46 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 4:14 pmIf you were scratching your head towards the end of this trying to understand why people just wouldn't except it, I've come across a rather intelligent chap that explains it. I used to find it really hard not to argue with stupid people on social media but I am slowly managing to wean myself off. I often end up typing up a response and then not sending it - I think it is my coping mechanism.somatics wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 4:43 pmHoly crap, that's an absolutely mindblowing video. Just wow. I type out responses and delete them more than I send them, mostly because initially I'm looking at what I perceive as stupidity but then it turns into me measuring my stupidity. I personally find it easier to reserve judgement these days and just let the squabble take place, it usually goes on long enough to get a good informed perspective of what's factual.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 5:51 pmI used to find it really hard not to argue with stupid people on social media but I am slowly managing to wean myself off. Last night is a good example of me getting carried away, I was caught out by the fake legislators, a few mins of scrolling would of clarified that but instincts are sometimes uncontrollable.

I "follow" a few people on twitter by having their pages open in separate browser tabs, but I don't have an account and so only observe.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 5:51 pmI used to find it really hard not to argue with stupid people on social media but I am slowly managing to wean myself off. I like this forum because they let us have a row when required and don't censor stuff - respect to Peter and BA for that. I remember the Tommy Robinson thread, and a few others, when plenty were squealing for them to be shut down but BA let them run to a peaceful conclusion!
+1 it's nice to have a place where opinions can be discussed, argued or debated. There's obviously a fine line but the forum seems to regulate itself nicely.superfrank wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:33 pmI "follow" a few people on twitter by having their pages open in separate browser tabs, but I don't have an account and so only observe.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 5:51 pmI used to find it really hard not to argue with stupid people on social media but I am slowly managing to wean myself off. The amount of people complaining about the the market being settled because they took some crazy punt on Trump is mental
