I need BA to trigger 2 bets on one horse in play,so for example if the SP is 8 and I set the trigger to Back a set stake at 5 and 1.5 (if the odds are hit).
Thats all that is required really as long as it only backs at these prices just once its a really simple trigger,my question is what is the best tool to do this with,am I missing something on BA itself or is there a certain spread sheet that is the optimum way to implement this.
Thanks
G

I am confused about a couple of things?
1. What is the relevance of the SP price?
2. Why would you back the horse at 5 and 1.5?
Perhaps you meant back at 5 and lay at 1.5?

Hi Gwilsonred wrote:Can anyone advise the most obviouse tool/spreadsheet to use to set this trigger up ?
I do not need a step by step guide in how to use the whatever is suggested just your opinion on the overall area within BA to use.
Thanks

Sorry I am no expert on automation via excel so I cannot really help you on how to set the trigger. I was just curious about your desire to back the horse twice.

This would work and so would the standard spreadsheet however both options really allow for only 1 bet to be placed and not 2 or 3. It may be that a more complex 'if' statement needs to be written within excel although it seems along way to go about things with such an advanced piece of software.mtrend wrote:In BA you use the automation tab.
Then click the menu 'Settings' --> 'Edit Settings' --> 'Automation' to set your criteria
Betrader Evo has the function as standard (sorry for mentioning BA),They refer to it as a stop entry tool and is very straight forward to implement although would prefer to use BA.
Hi wilsonred
I too have been looking for a similar function on BA - it doesn't exist in the main application. As you say Evo has a stop entry tool which you can set on any horse and any predetermined value - the problem with Evo I found however is that it struggles to match BA in terms of speed and market refresh rate which is very frustrating.
The 'theory' behind using the Stop Entry tool (from my point of view anyway) is that you aim to catch horses that do well in running, as follows:
Let's say you have 3 runners trading at or around 6 pre off and you think the winner will come from one of those 3.
Using Evo I place stop entry triggers on those top 3 at levels as follows:
4.2
3.2
2.2
(These levels are not set in stone they are simply set at intervals lower than the horses SP).
If these levels are hit and our bets get matched then we can assume that the horse is doing well in the race.
As each bet is matched I try and green up when the price moves in my direction. One could use tick offsetting to grab 10 or 20 ticks each time.
I'm investigating the idea of linking a spreadsheet and developing a set of formula to 'catch' my triggers..
Will report accordingly.
