Good news, I like the "with interest" part

BetFred horrible firm, whenever I come across one of #FredsPushes I want to throw up.

I'd imagine they were using a third-party platform and that had the glitch, so they probably had some clause in the contract, maybe.

From BBC article:

Betfred had argued that the software glitch, which stopped the game from resetting properly while Mr Green was playing, was covered under the terms and conditions of the game.

However, Mrs Justice Foster ruled that the wording of the clauses relied upon was "inadequate", and "not transparent or fair and Betfred were not entitled to rely upon them".

It would be interesting if anybody went to court and tested the Betfair T&C for outages for trading.

Got no sympathy for Betfred they have made a fortune from gamballing and derserve to give something back.

What happens when everybody who plays the game hits the jackpot due to a glitch in the software?

I like the way they tried to hush him up with £60,000 as long as he never spoke about it again.

Isn't that classed as a bribe or blackmail ?

I remember along time back in 2010 or 2011 I think when the bot/market maker offered £860 at 1.01 lay odds on every selection at betfair exchange games on every round. Lasted about 3 hours. He/she must have been sick when they checked their account balance. I only spotted it/managed to get on 3 minutes before all the games were taken down.

I bet someone who first noticed it must have made a pretty fortune 100% risk free for hours.

No its just an offer of an out of court settlement. Happens all the time. It's a bet on the odds of winning, vs costs and likely award.

I'm assuming that as they claimed it was due to a glitch in the software they offered every player at the time a refund of their losses?

Why anyone plays these games when there's real live sport where you can see for yourself how straight it is is beyond me.

Well, i dont know how much he spent playing these games but he did win the jackpot 3 times in a row because of the glitch so probably thought it was easy money.

I realise how complex the situation is when the law has to be interpreted and applied, but if he hit the jackpot 3 times in a row I'm surprised the judge awarded him the full payout rather than one. What if he kept playing until Betfred went bust? What if everybody hit the jackpot every time?

He must have been pretty daft to take out a credit card loan (even though Betfred confirmed his win) before the money was in the bank. Shouldn't have been difficult to see problems arising.
