Not sure why overcomplicate things when there are so many websites out there these days with all the data you could use.
Its not like its 2005 A LOT has changed since then. From generic sites offering trap for each track data through sites like racingpost, sportinglife you name it to betfair free pre off data. Grab excell spreadsheet with some moderate skills and you are ready to go.
Scraper + Excell will do the trick.
No need to learn tens of new commands, operators etc and completely new software when you can use a simple scraper, press a few mouse clicks and use a few formulas in excell.
But thats just my opinion.

It's not over complicated it's simplification. Websites change, usually with no notice, and that means doing maintenance to a scraper , this is zero maintenance and clean data which is important when time = money. I didn't want to learn it either, boring pain in the arse, but an hour a day over a month or two is no big deal if you put your big boy pants on. This is gambling, a few hours for the chance of another tenth of a point seems like value. It's only getting harder pizza, you've gotta run to stay still.

In Aus they get video webinars on how to leverage API to improve ROI. In the UK we get live chat asking us what an Exchange is.

Betfair Aus have really gone the extra mile, with the models for Horses, Greyhounds & NBA. Think they even have their own YT channel giving details from things like BA software to creating your own data models... they even had Peter on there, which is something Betfair UK don't seem to be interested in.

Relatively good dog ratings with this AUS BF site and I downloaded them for about 3 months...didn't work for me because some days they don't post them and of course depends on if one is up late to load the races, do one's stats and or if one then wants to include the races in Guardian.

They have a great YT channel with some guests who are expert modellers and like to concentrate on automation. Kerrin is very keen to spread the word
