One of my favourite horses is running today at Haydock park in the Temple Stakes: Overdose - The Budapest Bullet, and like 5 million other Hungarians i will be watching this race in Budapest.
I backed Overdose at 3.15 (FAV) late last night with a view to seeing how the market reacted over the longer term. This morning when I logged into BF the price was at 3.85 and I began to "WTF". Two minutes later I am reading this article http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-ra ... 60098/top/, published at 7.30am BST, where the owner has stated that they are not so interested that the horse wins this race today but regards it as a stepping stone to Ascot later this summer. Oh bollocks!! The cynic inside me says that he has cleverly manipulated the market to squeeze a little bit more value out of the horse for connections. Consider this http://www.politics.hu/20110520/ernst-y ... ter-russia.
Nevetheless, an interesting lesson of how news affects the markets.

Overdose is an amazing horse but he's had injury worries of late. I remember another user mentioned this horse and I must confess I had never really examined his form in any great detail. When I did take time to study it I thought wow
this is the real deal.
Sadly he is a sprinter, a real out and out speed ball of wound up energy. These horses are like an explosion of power when the stalls open. I said sadly but only in regards the need for them to be 100%. When their power explodes they need to have everything spot on to get across the ground at max speed.
I would imagine that someone has decided he is not 100% (that's probably based on pure speculation) and so that has spread like wildfire and the price has drifted.
In my humble opinion if he's 100% he wins this race. Would I back him below 4.0 on Betfair...probably not! I think you may get the price to peak at around 4.30 before it settles closer to 3.50-3.75 for most money
Good luck!

I was almost correct, it only reached 4.10 before as predicted it came back to 3.50-3.75!JollyGreen wrote:I think you may get the price to peak at around 4.30 before it settles closer to 3.50-3.75 for most money
