My squash coach told me 3-0, 9-0 was the only objective regardless of the quality of the opposition. To play down to a weak opponent is patronising and doesn't even benefit them. Obviously at England's level the issue of injury for no real gain is pertinent. I personally don't like 'managing' these sort of games.
They should get out there and thrash 'em if you can.
