Today's Football
Can we not apply some covid restrictions to prevent them going? Oops that may set off alex's conspiratorial theories.

Ah Pat, sure we have Ray Houghton, Jim Beglin, Ronnie Whelan, and Danger Here George Hamilton career goon still on the airwaves, it's not like the best of the Irish got behind the microphone either!Trader Pat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:54 pmUK broadcasters seem intent on hiring ex players who have battled with depression so they can depress the rest of us.
You could offer me that lot commentating on a match, Martin Tyler commentating on a Man Utd scrappy win against Liverpool, or pluck every hair off my body with a twee......Gimme that tweezers

Need some good straight shooters on a football show. Roy Keane definitely, Paul McGrath cos he's straight up, doesn't sit on the fence. Jason McAteer as the wind-up merchant. Niall Quinn as the voice of reason as the 4th. Host is either Sile Seoige or Eimear Considine.
All the non-Irish are now googling Sile and Eimear

Ronnie's not too bad and I think Beglin has been cancelled! To be fair though we do have some bad ones, I draw the line at Niall Quinn!Dublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:03 pmAh Pat, sure we have Ray Houghton, Jim Beglin, Ronnie Whelan, and Danger Here George Hamilton career goon still on the airwaves, it's not like the best of the Irish got behind the microphone either!Trader Pat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:54 pmUK broadcasters seem intent on hiring ex players who have battled with depression so they can depress the rest of us.

McAteer is proof you don't have to be a boring miserable bastard just because you've been battling depression

But had to Google the last two names

Paul McGrath is an interesting call. For ages I though he was a donkey. Then I paid attention and concluded he was up with Baresi. What could he have achieved without his 'baggage'.Kai wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:10 pmHear, hear!Dublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:03 pmNeed some good straight shooters on a football show. Beglin hasn't been cancelled! He's still commentating on one of the Middle East owned broadcasters or one of the US ones, heard his dreary tones on a stream and had to change before I threw myself out the window. It's a flat roof below so I wouldn't die but Jim Beglin is not worth getting broken ankles forTrader Pat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:09 pmRonnie's not too bad and I think Beglin has been cancelled! Speaking of US networks, Kate Abdo formerly of Sky Sports can be found on CBS these days, looking as fine as ever

He was commentating for CBS during a Champions League semi final and when Di Maria got sent off for PSG Beglin said it was because of his 'Latino' temperamentDublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:35 pmBeglin hasn't been cancelled!
