I've had a terrible month this month and won't be getting my usual promotion but I'm beginning to run out of job titles. I think Putin's going to have the same problem and will soon run out of alert levels.![]()

You know those idiots you visit who think it's a good idea to switch the TV on and spend a whole hour skipping through the channels, before discovering there's nothing worthwhile to watch? That's what Sky News has become, 2 minutes interviewing a politician, switch to Brussels convention to hear a question, skip the answer and switch to the UN Security Counsel, for 30 seconds...

You can just make out the tank commander running after it..."give me back my tank." TBH, looks a bit like Puta Putin....Derek27 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 2:39 pmflipping hell, that's 50 tons that tractor's pulling. Between them the US and Russia have more than active 3000 warheads. and more than 12000 in total. Enough to obliterate humanity. This is the sword of damacles that is supposed to prevent any future deployment. Hiroshima/Nagasaki happened for more than one reason. But one reason was certainly that the US was the only nuclear power, with no fear of a nuclear response. A nuclear exchange is still MAD (so far as I have read). But Russia do need to get rid of Putin. They're going backwards rapidly. Economically, providing for their people, world influence - such is the inefficiency of authoritarianism.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 2:51 pmDerek27 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 2:23 pmThis will scare the shit out of everyone.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 2:13 pm

He appears to be in civilian clothing. I reckon the tank broke down, the driver nicked the farmer's tractor to tow it and the farmer's running after him.wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 3:54 pmYou can just make out the tank commander running after it..."give me back my tank." Problem for Putin and everybody else is how does he back himself out of this corner without losing face?
Y, he needs an exit. But you would think negotiators would understand that.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 5:54 pmProblem for Putin and everybody else is how does he back himself out of this corner without losing face?

The wheels have come off ALL his initial plans, and I agree he's got to somehow come away with something or he's finished
That's why I think the whole reason for upping his Nuclear alert status simply boils down to putting pressure on the west to give him an exit strategy and something to back off with - and if they won't call his bluff if he'll deploy them anywhere or just go gung-ho and level many parts of Ukraine out of frustration!
When you look at how the Cuban missile crisis it included a hidden concession from the US to pull missiles out of Turkey which were never disclosed publicly at the time - the problem is the later won't apply here and I can't see what the Ukraine and the west can publicly concede for him to walk away
