I get myself into a decent profitable position and my closing order is part matched only for someone to offload a wad that causes the price to run away. You do the right thing and get out only for it to turn around and come back your way. The next race you hold in near identical circumstances and it just runs further away from you..............................................................................and then it comes back
Thought you were standing over my shoulder for a second after reading that ;)

Exactly what has been happening to me.

Just joined, looking forward to a fruitful time, horse racing is my main sport, i do my own handicapping, so the In-Running Play & Lay plus the before the event takes place (prices)will be my punting.

I was doing great until that last one. Maybe it was you who shafted me with the big lay out of nowhere on Docofthebay

Still my best day of the week though

have to admit I smashed ascot out of the park last year but this year I have really had to fight my way through and my P&L is a fraction of last years.

welcome ajstrade,

you will quickly be humbled by trading, when you realize that attempting 'handicapping' for all but a very few clear-cut races is absolutely hopeless. There simply isn't enough information publically avaliable. Folks at the track who can visually inspect the horses and 'insiders' (trainers, stables) will always know more. To be successful at trading, you have to take the attitude that you have no idea what the 'real' prices should be, and you are trying to find out.

i've been playing for a year, a harsh eduction for me, learned all the lessons the hard way I'm afraid i.e, spending thousands of dollars.

absolutely diabolical year for me, if anything is guaranteed to drive you insane its trading.

trading is very very trickly. very tricky. you have been warned.

I've done poorly today but OK on the week. Last year was my mare where I couldn't get anything right. 2008 was my best ever Ascot and I've been chasing that total ever since.
