Wealth of some people is fundamented on that, if only there was a bloodless way to take them out of the game or, at least, reduce their "appetite"...greenmark wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 4:19 pmThere is no such thng as victory in war.
WW1 reparations created WW2.
WW2 essentially created the Cold War, to which we seemed to have returned.
Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan are all a mess. Africa and the Middle East are all over the place.
Imagine if all that physical/mental effort of those conflicts was put into positive pursuits.
For all humanity's ingenuity we can be really flipping stupid.

I suspect the UK will get hit by a Russian missile soon as we giving Ukraine even more money and weapons. The rhetoric coming from Russian TV stations is rather worrying regarding a nuclear torpedo which will create a tsunami so big it will put all of the UK underwater.
If it works that is....

No need of weird weaponry - just cut off cocaine supply to London and UK is done).Archery1969 wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 5:17 pmI suspect the UK will get hit by a Russian missile soon as we giving Ukraine even more money and weapons. Given the Kremlin's (Putin's?) stance that Nato is chomping at the bit to invade Russia (yeah, right!). Does the Russian regime (not Russians, this isn't a racist thing) really believe they have superior weapon available?Archery1969 wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 5:17 pmI suspect the UK will get hit by a Russian missile soon as we giving Ukraine even more money and weapons. Essentially, this is Putinism attempting to regress European boundaries to it's specification. As I've said before you can wind back history and redraw boundaries as much as you like. The cost is lost human life and decades of progress and the work of millions of humans turned to rubble.
The West by being a bad example spoiled him. If the West consider itself superior that it shouldn't have done things it did and "feed the troll". And now, the answer on every reproach: "they did it, why shouldn't we do it, why is this not allowed for us?"greenmark wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 5:39 pmGiven the Kremlin's (Putin's?) stance that Nato is chomping at the bit to invade Russia (yeah, right!). It doesn't matter if the problem is internal (like, brutal suppression of protests or political figures disposal, covid restrictions) or external (this conflict), there is always this damn answer.

The Pope is an irrelevant spectator whose opinion has no more merit than mine or yours.napshnap wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 3:55 pmPope Francis: “NATO barking at Russia’s gate” - https://www.wsj.com/articles/pope-franc ... 1651598988
Instead of getting involved in the politics or war, he should invest his time in getting his own church in order, namely, historic child abuse cases swept under the carpet.
Few people listen to my and your voice, but hundreds of millions listen to the Pope's voice and there's a reason for that, don't you think?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 4:07 pmThe Pope is an irrelevant spectator whose opinion has no more merit than mine or yours.napshnap wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 3:55 pmPope Francis: “NATO barking at Russia’s gate” - https://www.wsj.com/articles/pope-franc ... 1651598988

Yes. His opinion matters for huge part of humanity, you can't argue that. Maybe even for more people than brandon's opinion.Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 5:30 pmYes. But (maybe) if you mesure someone's moral "weight" by his ablility to sent aircraft carriers in any part of the world - doesn't it make YOU an obscurantist, Derek?
With one or two exceptions, like BJ, everybody's a decent person until they become a PM or president and have to order airstrikes. Then they're branded a mass murderer. Whichever way you look at it, the Pope is the leader of a club. Unless you're signed up to that club what he says is of little interest unless you just happen to respect his opinion, as you may do with anyone else.napshnap wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 5:41 pmHis opinion matters for huge part of humanity, you can't argue that. Then what the f the "best part of the world" wants from president of Russia? - nato's leaders "had to" ignore Russia's suggestions and (then) warnings and "had to" continue an expansion, the president "had to" start the special operation. There're no saints here, only "had to" biorobots, why listen to some latino dude in a funny bullet proof white car who sees the roots of the conflict and doesn't afraid to say it out loud then, right?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 6:00 pmWith one or two exceptions, like BJ, everybody's a decent person until they become a PM or president and have to order airstrikes. The west is not obliged to follow Russia's "suggestions". As for warnings, you can warn somebody that smoking's not good for you or you can warn them that you'll blow their brains out if they don't hand over their wallet.napshnap wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 6:14 pmThen what the f the "best part of the world" wants from president of Russia? - nato's leaders "had to" ignore Russia's suggestions and (then) warnings and "had to" continue an expansion, the president "had to" start the special operation. This way of "arrogant stubborn donkey" thinking, this stance led us to where we are now - the threat of nuclear war!
"As for warnings, you can warn somebody that smoking's not good for you or you can warn them that you'll blow their brains out if they don't hand over their wallet."
Or you can warn them that you'll blow their brains out if they don't hand over YOUR 300b "wallet")).
