It really pisses me off when I see somebody on the news claiming he can't afford to eat...with a flipping cigarette in his mouth!!

With packs of cigarettes costing over £10, if you can afford to smoke you can afford to eat.

I concur, Sir! It's sadly indicative of the me, me, me generation that our benefit culture has created, allowing and almost encouraging people to be idle and look to others to provide handouts.

But as a smoker you must understand the addictive nature of nicotine isn't rational.

When I was on JSA, I'd sometimes skip a meal to buy a pack of fags and 8 cans of beer, but I never claimed I didn't have enough money to eat. I'd just say I've spent it on beer and cigarettes.

For the price of a pack of cigarettes, you can get a couple of loaves of bread, butter, a dozen eggs, half a dozen cans of beans or the likes, a pack of fish fingers, a bag of frozen veg and frozen chips!

Yes well, just think how much money you'd save on smokes, by not having to pay for chemo etc

IMO it's literally one of the first psychological tests of life, you have to somehow get it done

I should own up. I tried smoking once, didn't like it. I have only been troubled by smoking via friends/family I wished would stop and the non-smokers gripe of getting home after a night out and your clothes reeking of smoke. But I have too many family/friends to sling anti-smoking arrows.
But I do wish you would stop.

As you can imagine, I was absolutely fuming after the smoking in public places ban, but I can now see why it was a nuisance. I don't smoke or allow people to smoke in my flat since I moved in 3 years ago. The stench of the flat is noticeable even for a smoker when you've been out for a few hours.

I still think there should be smoking rooms in pubs though. I don't even visit pubs in the wintertime.

My Dad was a pipe-smoker. I actually liked that aroma. More so when he lit up a cigar for special occasions.
I won't accuse smokers of anything. I'm lucky. I tried it, didn't like it. What a wonderful bodyswerve that was. If only I could say the same about booze.
C'est la vie.

Have you had a word with ASDA staff? They were out of my usual cigarettes and my No. 2 brand, so I have to make do with vaping tonight. :(

Harry & Megan are doing a Netflix show, about life at home with the Sussexes. I'm half-minded to do one myself on YouTube. I bet it would generarate more interest.

If you go on the ferry for a day trip and buy 400 B&H Gold on board they work out at £4.59 per 20 pack. :D

The video's about home life. It would have to be trading, drinking and watching porn. :D

But now that you mention it, I'm not far from Great Yarmouth. I'll check out the ferries to Amsterdam. :)

Cigarettes in Amsterdam are £5.90 for 20.

As duty has been paid your allowed to bring back 2500. 🍺
