Same idiots who think the Finnish PM shouldn't be dancing. There wasn't even any mention of alcohol but some people assume if you're dancing and enjoying yourself you must be pissed!
RANT CORNER
I've had some light rain forecast tonight. Not a flipping drop. I'll have to water the plants in the dark!
I just came close to having a complete breakdown trying to understand the instructions and then open a box of flipping clingfilm. It only takes 5 seconds to rip a cardboard box open, but encouraging people to spend 5 minutes carefully tearing along tabs and dotted lines that don't tear, when they know after 5 minutes you're going to lose your flipping mind and rip the box open anyway, that's really taking the piss!

Was looking at my water bill. £1.53/m3 seems fair but then they charge another £1.70/m3 for 90% of it as "sewerage'..... 90%? I haven't pissed away 90% of 54m3 or had 500 baths, most of it went in the garden and ponds.

It includes rain water that falls on your roof and goes into the drain system but for water you put on your garden, they should be paying you for refilling the water table.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 7:03 pmWas looking at my water bill. £1.53/m3 seems fair but then they charge another £1.70/m3 for 90% of it as "sewerage'..... 90%? I vaguely remember reading about applying for a reduced "sewage" rate if you're using water in a way that doesn't result in it going back to the water company, might we worth looking it up if there is such as scheme.
I've always believed burglary should be considered a serious crime and culprits should get at least five years. If that was the case, poor Olivia might still be alive.

Our rainwater goes into soakaway (underground pit full of gravel), most people's does or it goes into the storm drain system like on the side of the road. It's just 'foul water' bathroom, kitchen etc that goes into the sewerage and processed. Yeah I'm a drains smart arse today, I've been doing the drawings for an extension so deep into the regs

Interesting about the usage thing though. 'Sanitary' waste needs to go where it should but grey water could go elsewhere probably. Mmmm
That's interesting, had problems with roof/gutter stuff and the drain guy couldn't work out whether we drained into the surface water drains or into a soakaway. The council couldn't help as they don't store plans beyond a certain point (whiich is bizarre to me). But they did say that given the estate is essentially on a clay mound of several metres before you hit bedrock it was unlikely we had a soakaway as it would potentially swamp/destabilise the surrounding clay.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 8:52 pmOur rainwater goes into soakaway (underground pit full of gravel), most people's does or it goes into the storm drain system like on the side of the road. As far as I know you do. We're on the edge of a town. You might be thinking about septic tanks, where a truck comes to pump out your 'business' every few months. (study hard kids)
Tbh soakaways are a pain. After a few decades all the crap off your roof bungs them up, that might be greenmark's problem?
What a topic eh..... But found this,
Do all houses have Soakaways?
Over the last 20 years, since new Building Regulations were introduced in 2001, it has been MANDATORY for housing developments and new properties to be built with soakaways, or similar, systems so that the surface water created when it rains on these properties is "self-contained" and does not run off into the main ...
Probably because most towns sit on bedrock. As we've got more inventive about where (were

Septic tanks ferment and clean themselves eventually discharging clean water either to ground or to a waterway such as a stream. Looked after and, provided bacteria destroying chemicals aren't poured in the system, they don't need emptying for donkey's years - only when they go wrong.
Cess pits are just storage tanks and need emptying when full or they just overflow - usually onto the patio it seems !
Lived in a house with a septic tank for over 30 years and it had been installed 30 years before we moved in - no sewerage rates
