I've started looking at implementing a stoploss via Betangel and enabled the settings this afternoon. My first question is why is it only available when offsetting is enabled ? I don't want to offset so have to set this to a daft figure like 50 ticks.
After setting it though and finding it kicking in I'm sure it seemed to place two lay bets as opposed to one (to cancel out the original back). I've also just looked at my profit and loss for today and a back bet go into play (obviously in these cases the horse never goes on to win! ) without it being closed off.
I make very few trades per race, normally just one and I try and catch a trend so I'm finding the extra bets being placed more confusing than it really should be.
I still have Betangel running and I'm also sure a log file is created somewhere that I can look at ?

ok, replying to myself now as I've found where the log is (thought it was a seperate file  )
And I can now see whats happened here. After I'd greened up (the closure bet) the price then dropped and a stoploss was triggered, so that seems a bit weird to me ? I'll try and see whether I'm not setting something correctly:

10/07/2011 14:26:01: £ 21 Lay bet placed on Spock at 3.55. Fully matched at 3.5. Ref: 15476702129 ( Offsetting by 25 ticks. Trailing Stop at 6 ticks. Place stop at 8 ticks. )
10/07/2011 14:26:01: £ 21 Back bet placed on Spock at 5.5. Entirely unmatched when it initially reached the market. Ref: 15476702159
10/07/2011 14:26:42: Placed closure bet on Spock by Backing 19.26 at 3.7
10/07/2011 14:28:17: Stop triggered. Modify bet 15476702159 from 21.00 @ 5.5 to 21.00 @ 3.4

ok, so heres another part of the log, what seems to be happening is the high offset I'm using is triggering a stoploss, this is where I was seeing strange bets appearing when I was trading. Is this plausible and is there a way round it ?

10/07/2011 16:20:39: Market changed to Strat 10th Jul - 16:30 2m1f Hcap Chs

Have you got this set in the behaviour tab of the settings editor?

'Cancel a selection's unmatched bets when closing a trade'

Hi MT, cheers for the reply. Yep, I noticed that setting last night but it was already checked.
After looking at this again,am I right in saying the offset bet becomes the stoploss bet (by way of a bet modify?)
So if I had the setting on of cancelling unmatched bets when I close a trade then in theory this should cancel the offset bet ?
If thats correct then I need to see why the unmatched bet is not getting cancelled.

Yes.

I just tried the same thing with the same settings you have in practice mode and it worked fine. I closed the bet using the trade calculator. The unmatched bet was cancelled and the closing bet was placed. No unmatched bets remained.

I'll have to try it again tonight but the close unmatched bets has always been checked so it couldn't of been that not firing.
In the first sample of my log file you can see the closure bet being placed but the stoploss is also firing a short while later. Wonder if anyone knows whether the logfile would show a cancel bet action taking place, if this is the case, then I'd expect to see that happen on the offset bet when the closure bet has been placed.
Thanks again MT, as I said I'll try it again tonight and see how it goes.
