She can’t go this year as the current process takes too long to replace her. Wouldn’t be enough time available in parliamentary calendar. Unless they change the rules.

It looks like Truss is finished. This year? It would seem unlikely. Next year - they would have to have a slam-dunk replacement.
There isn't a candidate. The Tories have run out of options. Sadly Labour don't inspire me at all either.
I think it would be likely that Sunak is unchallenged. Not much point in having another contest and his policies are the opposite of Truss's.Archery1969 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 6:18 pmShe can’t go this year as the current process takes too long to replace her. It's my understanding that Truss had got a min of 12 months unless the 1922 Committee change their rules? She hasn't breached any rules or done anything to bring the party into disrepute, just implemented exactly what she campaigned on so I'm not sure what grounds they'd have for ousting her.
I also think that's the most likely option no matter when/if they oust her (which will require a rule change), similar to how Howard became the leader leader in early 2000s unopposed after a VNC in IDS wasDerek27 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 6:42 pmI think it would be likely that Sunak is unchallenged. There's talk of "suspending" the rules and putting a caretaker PM in... I think that's what they threatened Johnson & May when things got sticky..
Sunak must be fav for that no?

Big U turn next week on cutting corporation tax to calm financial markets.
That will be enough to see Truss through to next year at least.
But the chancellor may well have to fall on his sword.

If they really want to be rid of her they can simply oppose the next budget/mini-budget/fiscal statement. That will be the end of the government and trigger an election. I reckon many Tory MPs will have had enough of the sheer embarrassment of being in the party/government and would rather get another job.Dallas wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 6:48 pmI also think that's the most likely option no matter when/if they oust her (which will require a rule change), similar to how Howard became the leader leader in early 2000s unopposed after a VNC in IDS wasDerek27 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 6:42 pmI think it would be likely that Sunak is unchallenged. Kwasi will get the boot quickly. His first budget has blown up spectacularly in his face. No way back
I dont think Truss can hang on either. Shes clearly toxic for the Torys now. Whats the point in letting her stay and probably come up with new ways to lose voters
The Torys have to find a way to remove and replace her quickly. That will clearly require them to change their own rules, and absolutely not allow the 'membership' to chose the next leader. They would probably choose Suella Braverman or someone equally ridiculous

It would be difficult for Truss to get rid of him and keep her job because she's too close to him politically. She supported and approved everything he's done and the general policy so she can't argue that it's his fault. She's fucked.Archangel wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 9:27 pmKwasi will get the boot quickly. Streuth! The very idea of that woman in a position of power makes me shudder, never mind PM.Archangel wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 9:27 pmKwasi will get the boot quickly. His first budget has blown up spectacularly in his face. No way back
