Code: Select all
; To stop Windows Update service (place in an automated startup file so it runs on every boot. Microsoft sneakily switch it on occasionally.)
NET STOP wuauserv
SC config wuauserv start= disabled
; To start the service when it's convenient to update.
SC config wuauserv start= auto
NET START wuauserv

Or use a Winders Server version. Business users don't tollerate these enforced changes and expect full control.Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 12:09 pmjamesedwards wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:01 amBloody enforced Windows Updates day. Just had my council tax bill through the post up 4.78% Absolute piss takers. I don't know how they get away with it, banging it up every year to the maximum they can whilst providing progressively worse services year on year

The govt cut council funding by 37% between 2010 and 2020. They've got to get it from somewhere. Income tax rises to reinstate that funding would be fairer, but that's not a vote winner. So instead the councils have to ask for it directly, and take the flack instead.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 5:12 pmJust had my council tax bill through the post up 4.78% Absolute piss takers. And one council (in England) have awarded themselves a 35% pay rise...I really hope its that lot that turned down Clarkson's planning permission just for entertainment purposes.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 7:28 pmThe govt cut council funding by 37% between 2010 and 2020. Valid point and something I'd not considered however (I won't list them all out) but my local council have wasted tens of millions over the past few years mainly on construction projects. One example over 4 million on a traffic light/road scheme initiative to improve traffic flow, 8 months later 3 million to put it back to how it was as caused carnage with traffic. That is one of the lets say minor examples of there incompetence.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 7:28 pmThe govt cut council funding by 37% between 2010 and 2020. I think councils have always been incompetent and always will be. You don't get top management types aspiring to work for the council. If they offered a 7 figure salary they might stand a chance of attracting the sort of person who'd save them 8 figures. But people kick off if an exec earns 100k these days so they get 2nd rate people.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 7:53 pm. That is one of the lets say minor examples of there incompetence.

I moved this....
If a 50yo had the same outgoings as a teenager it would be a good idea..... It's the deluded world of a man who's never had to think about his bills. And when you've qualified... they'll employ the 25yo who trained with you.

Yes, but we can eat at Lee Anderson's 30 pence-a-meal restaurant.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:13 pmI moved this....If a 50yo had the same outgoings as a teenager it would be a good idea.....
