Labour MP wisely reminds Sunak that he's only the party's second choice. I'm surprised that line isn't used more often. :)
Wow, if they think that's wise it just shows how stupid the rest are!!
It's me that thinks it's wise, somebody has to remind him. :D

House of Lords to sit until beyond midnight!

Half of them fall asleep during afternoon sessions.

Two giant ships/barges intended to assist in sending migrants back to where they came from have been sent back to where they came from - they couldn't find anywhere to dock!!

Most people that embark on a short car journey think about parking first. The Home Office decided to move a 50,000-ton barge from Stockholm and worry about parking it later.

If Nigel Farage follows this thread, would you like to purchase one of my bank accounts?

Tory's are a bit high at 10.5 to lay for an overall majority and 7.6 for the most seats in the GE next year. I don't lay at them prices as a rule but a bit lower and I'd have had a nibble as fancy them to take a battering in tomorrows 3 by-elections.

According to the Daily Express, Jeremy king canute expects retailers to lower their prices because inflation is only 7.9% instead of 8.7%. Good to know that 7.9% inflation means that prices go down. :)

Oh dear at the risk of starting yet another worthless exchange may I point out that the use of the word "According" doesn't mean you disagree, it even doesn't mean you doubt ... it's just confirming your source! You seem to want to pick a fight over anything, all I was asking was do you believe that?!!

it would be nice if your contributions were anything but.

The phrase "according to" is commonly used to provide credibility and indicate that the information being shared is not the speaker's own interpretation or opinion, but rather derived from a specific source.

If you applied a modicum of intelligence, you would understand the context of referring to the Daily Express is effectively - "this is the usual right-wing gutter press, make of it what you will."

You asked me if I believe that and I gave you a very straight answer, which was no.

If you think I want to pick a fight you've got a flipping serious problem. You're snapping at every flipping one of my posts.

You are correct that the use of the word "according" doesn't mean that I disagree or doubt, but what you fail to understand is that it wasn't flipping intended to express my level of agreement. I was simply telling you for the avoidance of any doubt that I was quoting the Daily Express and not giving my opinion of its correctness.

For fuck's sake firlandsfarm, if you want to argue about grammar and the construction of sentences, can you not find another flipping site to do that?

I'm sure there are many that will be right up your street.

Well Arbitrage it seems you think you know better than Oxford, Cambridge etc combined ... that's good to know. I also wish your contributions were "anything but" ... but I appreciate the gang/loyalty society if anyone should disagree with 'the gang's' views ... you don't work for Coutts do you?

Well I'm sure you are right as usual Derek. Clearly I'm wrong to recall that you started the argument about 'according' I just simply commented not to believe what you read in The Daily Express, you then launched into the meaning of 'according' but as I said I'm sure you are correct, as always.

Coutts have apologised to Nigel Farage for saying appropriate things about him. :D

Can you not just accept that we got our wires crossed? Does it really matter who, if anyone, is at fault?

Instead of arguing over who used the correct words with the correct meaning/context, just try to understand the message the other person is conveying!
