Granting these new oil and gas licenses is the right move for a variety of reasons and I'm annoyed that Kier Starmer is against, maybe its posturing and he secretly does support them.

Doesn't give political reasons for closures which is what Farage's was closed for which I disagree with.

More or less what I said people claiming foul when they've probably been picked up by AML algorithms nothing to do with politics and came from a left wing rag instead of a right wing one. People call foul when they think there hard done by when in reality they know the T&C's that banks can close an account anytime they like and don't have to give a reason.

That's the difference some people like to moan claiming there hard done by, others get on with it and find another way like opening another bank account.

I guess for people that haven't had a 'skirmish' with a bank, they think banks are the epitome of ethics. I can tell you they are ratbags. So long as you have money and regular inputs to that account they're pussycats. I remember being summoned by my bank after I was made redundant and they confiscated my chequebook. Needless to say when I got my next job I moved banks. For completeness, that bank was Midland which I believe became part of HSBC.
I moved to Halifax and have had no problems, but then I've had no money problems since.
My sister is with RBS, is self employed, earns £50k a year and had to argue and jump through hoops to get a £30k loan to refurb her home (which is mortgage free and worth 150k easily).
The banks never get it right. They're either bombarding you with offers of loans or whacking you round the head when you're going through a difficult spell.
I worked in that sector and IMO the top level are deeply cynical scum.

Political reasons? I'm against any account closures without disclosing a justified reason. The banks (and life) have redesigned the need for people to have a bank account and their T&C's need to be revisited for life as it is today.

And no, it may not be possible to open another bank account. Farage claims to have applied to 10 other banks and been refused and don't forget the affect it would have on your credit record/score. A common question is "Have you ever had an account closed?" To answer "Yes" will hardly score you any points in your favour. And every time your credit record is checked it leaves a footprint of interest/activity.

To have a bank account today is more important than having a job ... there is no banking equivalent of Universal Credit.

Just because you think something's a bad idea doesn't mean you have to reverse it once it's implemented. It's like discovering you've taken the long route home. You may be beyond the point where it's worth turning back.
