Weird that VAR didn't get the ref to check the dive for the pen ???
Big clubs get big decisions only the referee and VAR thought that was a penalty along with the odd delusional Liverpool fan. You either have VAR and use it or don't have it at all. Load of nonsense this "clear and obvious error" rule. Should of been reviewed and overturned no question about it.
Being all of odd, delusional and a Liverpool fan I look forward to the highlights later. Most seem to think it was simulation. Some think there was minimal contact that Szoboszlai exagerrated. Have we bought a diver? I seriously hope not.
But the VAR questions still buzz around. We've all now seen the tech they have (and it ain't cheap). The missing element is a verbal from the ref, like in rugby. I appreciate the refs are thinking "no chance, I'll be lynched".
But the girls have done it. Why can't big rufty tufty blokes?
But most of all we're now several years into VAR and there is still controversy. Football hierachy all over isn't it?
Dive for me and was looking for it if penalty's are given for that they'll be 4 or 5 a game.

The missing element is consistency. VAR needs using for every penalty decision that's a good place to start.

Another one here as I type Macalister just been sent off ridiculous decision. He's gone for the ball and caught him yellow at best no malice in that tackle. No VAR review that was clear and obvious error.

Think shootout goal is what MLS used to do about 10 years ago give or take, if I recall player would start from the half way line and attempt to score.

Sounds much better than a penalty shootout

Is VAR is asked to review a potential penalty or red card situation and finds a player used simulation, is there any punishment for the cheating player ?

Great start to the season for Bellingham at Real and a goal for Kane for Bayern yesterday. Good to see English players go aboard and make a good starts. Hopefully both have fantastic seasons.

Kane's should be on for 30 plus goals in that Bayern side and Bellingham has the potential to be a world class footballer and he's well on the way.

United being humiliated by a Spurs (minus Kane). Ten Hag is now in the crosshairs. He's been very critical of his players perhaps this is his reward.

A week of very poor VAR decisions in the Premier League. Brentford and Liverpool gifted penalty's with no VAR intervention, Wolves robbed of a penalty v Man U.

No one including the PGMOL has a clue what a "clear and obvious error" is or means and when to implement it. Either use VAR properly or scrap it all together.

If VAR was scrapped tomorrow the same people moaning about it would be moaning about all the obvious decisions the refs get wrong.

Not for me. I'm hugely anti-VAR, mainly because it reduces the euphoria of a goal. When a goal goes my way now, all I'm interested in is whether the players have kicked off yet so I know the goal stands. Such a shame.

No-one seems to care about referees as real people. They're even wearing bodycams now to record the physical assaults in lower leagues. Maybe one day it'll all be done by AI computer, but then the programmers will get it in the neck instead.

Yeah I totally agree with the goal factor, it kills the euphoria
