Just logged into BA and the home page has all changed!!!! it looks good... Anyway there's something about a VPS on there. I've read through the stuff on there and I still don't fully get what it is. In laymans terms does this bassically mean that if you subscribe to the service you can get faster response times on your PC? Maybe one for BA to answer

A VPS isn't suitable for everybody but here are some key points: -

A VPS sits much closer to Betfair on the internet so it is less hops away from their servers. Typically it is on a much faster connection as well, so just for general internet usage it will usually vastly exceed your local connection.

If you move between locations or want some continuity in your connection a VPS will provide that. As long as you have access to the internet you can use the VPS anywhere in the world and it will act like a high speed local connection in the UK.

Because you are connecting to a server your bandwidth consumption is significantly reduced. Using the standard windows remote desktop or similar to connect to the server means you only need enough bandwidth to re-draw elements of the screen which is usually very low.

This also means you can connect to Bet Angel from anywhere in the world using any internet enabled device. You still have a bit of latency from your internet connect to the server but this is often quite small.

General question to Bet Angel support about VPS.

I don't need to access Bet Angel from anywhere in the world but I am interested in connecting at 30 ms consistently.

I'm currently able to connect at about 70-100ms consistently using Mode 1 - would VPS enhance my experience sufficiently to justify upgrading?

Thanks in advance!

The server sits on a very fast backbone on the internet so your connection will be faster than a standard ISP connection.
