.... Do sympathise a bit tho Derek... Luckily when it comes to DR I go into the AWS dashboard, fire up a new server and load the backup image. At home I clone my system drive and can just swap it out to test it, and swap it back if there's problems.

Problem solved!!!

I deleted the three partitions that Windows creates, reinstalled Windows in the unallocated space to recreate them, and then dumped my boot, system and recovery images back in those partitions. Thought it would take an hour and a half, it took 11 hours and 45 minutes in the end. Probably damaged the BCD or caused inconsistencies but couldn't be arsed to investigate what went wrong, I just need to trade a South American match and put the episode behind me.

You won't hear me saying FFS tonight.
