Kasparov did lose a game against IBM Deep Blue back in the late 90s but was Deep Blue AI?

The vast majority don't understand what AI is. It seems almost anything programmed to automate is suddenly being referred to as AI.

Watched a master c2300 rating playing ChatGPT a month or so ago... It started off really well playing at over a 2000 rating then at some point in middle game completely forgot how to play chess - thought a rook could move like a bishop etc.... He restarted the position (several times) but same thing kept happening - it went bonkers and seemed to invent its own game / rules for no obvious reason...

In summary, was very impressive given that it wasn't designed to play chess but also very worrying that it could go so wrong when supposed to be operating within the context of a system with well defined rules.

There were claims of cheating in that match. Deep Blue made some very human-like moves, not accepting a pawn sacrifice and Kasparov's team wasn't allowed to have anyone supervising the computer room.

Kasparov wanted a rematch but they immediately dismantled the computer. :)

Good thing they didn't play in Soviet Russia or they would immediately dismantle Kasparov instead :)

Does anyone know the similarities/differences between ChatGPT and Google Bard ?

For example, if you ask ChatGPT to list todays football fixtures it wont be able to as it doesnt have up to date information.
Bard is able to do this (albeit frequently inaccurate!)

TL;DR version

But there are many comprehensive comparisons everywhere

But plenty more out there and plenty more to come for sure, not even heard about many of these below.

For example for a bit of fun there's Character.AI where you can talk to Elon Musk, who I always liked because we were both professional Quakers back in the day :D

You can also talk to people like William Shakespeare or Albert Einstein, even Maurice Ross from IT Crowd if you need technical computer advice etc
