Leading on from the original question does anyone know how accurate this BSP is as a predictor of the results?

It seems to me the perceived wisdom, on horse racing at least is that the BSP is a fairly accurate guide. Now i have not tested this and it may well be out of date and thus be untrue now.

So i wonder if you were to beat the BSP on Greyhounds say by 3% would you expect to be shwoing a long term profit?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'unmatched'? Once they are placed they are not reversible, and they are matched when the event starts. (Take SP is different because it can be cancelled)

In theory, yes. If you beat BSP by 3% you would have a very good edge.

Yeah I know the stuff, I meant pre-play, before start time, before suspension.

I don't think Take SP orders are present in these numbers? So it's a guess as to what money will be taken to SP. Not sure you can predict it.

I just did a full backtest, backing / laying at BSP for every greyhound ever. No profitable strategy:

viewtopic.php?p=356546#p356546

This suggests that commission cannot be beaten if you blindly back / lay at BSP. Therefore, BSP is an accurate reflection of true odds to within 2% over a full sample. Though that doesn't mean some races the BSP is the true odds, but on average over a large sample it is. It also does not mean you can't be profitable betting at BSP, but you would need to be selective.
