Southgate has brought his time as England manager to an end. Who next for England?

Megan Rapinoe would be an excellent fit.

I fear Potter, but anything is better than Southgate. He deserves much praise for the cultural shift in the team, but tactically he's 20 years out of date and he should have moved on after Euro 2021.

Agreed, just about anyone foreign would do, to build on this, someone that has ideally won something

Slim pickings from the English pool of coaches, very inexperienced overall at this point in time

Browsing all the socials last couple days and see the knives are fully out, but thought Gareth probably did best he could all things considering

Potter must be one of the favourites, turned down a couple of job offers recently...did he have his eyes on this one?

Lee Carsley done alright with the U21s, knows the players and the 'system'

others potentially in the mix?:
Joachim Low
Thomas Franks
Massiniliano Allegri
Ralf Rangnick
Scott Parker
David Moyes ;)

Be surprised if Eddie Howe threw his hat in, still on a journey with Newcastle
Pochettino may think about it, likes the spotlight, but i think the FA would be bonkers
There's always Big Sam and Frank Lampard if England really want to go further backwards :D
Stevie G....still really to prove himself on big stage, but could see a few fans nodding in approval...
Zidane & Tuchel....Nah...can't see the job really being their cup of tea.....

Tough gig. You have to play entertaining football and win in that order seemingly. Tough crowd. Of the four tournaments pre Southgate. 14 goals in total. 4 tournaments with Southgate 44 goals. Tough act to follow.

Think I'm right saying that Englands next three fixtures (which is relevent to the BF rules for Next England Manager) are all Nations League games.
Startng 7th Sept. Are they really going to appoint Carsley and then dump him mid-tournament?
Can the FA swing their "succession plan" into action to install a permanent manager with enough time to prep for 7th Sept? I think that's a tight schedule for anyone other than Carsley or Cooper who knows the environment at England.

Still haven't beaten a World Cup winner away from home in knockout though. Glass ceiling is still there.

Good point, since when do you have to play amazing football to have a chance of winning something, was never on board with that sentiment. Look what Greece have done in the past, or Real at club level recently. When you've got a squad full of world class players and match-winners you're always in with a shout, for all of Spain's brilliance the final was open until the very end.

But not having any world class coaches to fully utilize these top players was always going to be a mismatch. Never felt right, just seems like the FA were looking for the biggest yes-man they could find after the Big Sam fiasco, when they should be looking for the best available coach.

No official rule against foreign managers, surely this has to be abused and not used as a self imposing handicap, going domestic is just a luxury that not every country can afford.

If not, for whatever reason, then Eddie Howe is probably their best bet.

Looking through the market front-runners the most disappointing appointment in my eyes would be Lee Carsley.

I imagine he ticks many boxes for the FA. Well worth a dabble at 6.0.
