For me the bottom line here is that someone is going to get hurt, beyond the innocent asians attacked in Hull in their BMW and the guy in Belfast who is now in a serious condition in hosptial.
Anyone who has far-right but peaceful views should stay away from any event. You just blur the police view to snag the violent. We know now that the "protest" will be hijacked by extremists , so stay away and voice your opinion democratically. This is like Toxteth and Brixton (sorry Jimibt for not twigging like you did) the difference is this is the extreme right agitating as opposed to the left in the past.
It's ironic that they appear to be complaining about what a right wing govt has created.
And little more than a month in, Labour are having to mop up the mess.
To be fair, many think there is no point arguing democratically as those in power just brand them as racist and ignore. So for some, they believe violence is the answer. Of course that’s not my view.
Yes, you can arrest and lock them up with long sentences. But there is no rehabilitation in the UK prison system. So they will probably come out with the same views and then life of crime or back rioting.
Not in scope but I remember watching a BBC documentary on the prison system in Norway. There it’s 10% punishment and 90% rehabilitation. One of the senior prison officers was female, served 8 years for murder in the same prison she was now working in. Paying tax, flat, partner and two children. Not sure what the family of the victim thought but that’s an interesting insight into that people can change with the right help, support and guidance. Obviously that couldn’t happen in the UK as you can’t become a prison officer if convicted of a serious offence. Interesting though.
