Hi.
I'm trying to set the "Communications" tab to use Exchange Streaming".
But first, is dosen't look like in the video, and there is not an option to choose "20 milliseonds".
Can anybody tell me how to set this tab so i can use exchange streaming. See attached image.
Best, Tim
Exchange streaming?
No its the way Bet Angel gets the market info like the odds from Betfair, before the only way to get this was for Bet Angel to call (Poll) Betfair and ask for the latest market prices etc - the fastest it could do this was every 200ms (5 times a second).renoo wrote:sorry but could you explain please what exchange streaming means? is it a different video service? thanks
With streaming this info can be refreshed to you every 20ms (50 times a sceond) and rather than continually calling (polling) betfair the infomation is sent by betfair only if something changes in the market which means overall a lot less calls going to Betfair therefore less stress on their severs and much faster response time for you the end user.

If you search the forum for 'transaction charges' you'll find that people have had a wide variety of experiences, I'm not sure there is one simple answer. 1000 transactions per hour seems to be the benchmark, about 1 every 4 seconds. I know a large number of practice transactions are frowned upon; BF is afterall a business that survives on commission, not a free system testing facility.Abraquay wrote:If i'm using automation at 20ms on say upto 100 greyhound races a day in practice and/or live mode will i incur any charges. I see the Tx figure at the bottom of the screen. Is there a limit on this ?

the Tx (transactions) is purely related to bet placement transactions, not data pings, so you'll have similar Tx figures in polling and streaming mode if using the same rules/strategy.Abraquay wrote:If i'm using automation at 20ms on say upto 100 greyhound races a day in practice and/or live mode will i incur any charges. However it seems they can be related as Betfair will penalise if you are polling but not placing bets. Enabling streaming may allow you to get away with using practise mode for extended periods.jimibt wrote:the Tx (transactions) is purely related to bet placement transactions, not data pings, so you'll have similar Tx figures in polling and streaming mode if using the same rules/strategy.Abraquay wrote:If i'm using automation at 20ms on say upto 100 greyhound races a day in practice and/or live mode will i incur any charges. I am experiencing connection issues when using Exchange streaming - occasionally, not all the time Bet Angel streaming status appears as disconnected. If I`m at home, no problem, as I can just manually disconnect, and re-connect with Wifi (although wifi appears as connected), and Bet Angel is streaming again. However, if I`m away, and connect to laptop via Remote Desktop, and see that Bet Angel has disconnected status, there is no way to reconnect to wifi, as it does not connect automatically after I press ''disconnect''.
I have tried using polling streaming option, and mentioned issue seems to be gone, but I receive information every 200ms instead of 20 ms, and also don`t like possible penalty, if bots doesn`t place bets (from above comment).
Two questions:
1. Could mentioned issue while using exchange streaming be related with refresh rate or more likely with my laptop/wifi rooter?
2. Any way to set up that Bet Angel automatically uses polling, if status is disconnected while using exchange streaming? Probably not, but worth to ask.
Was thinking that issue is related with laptop itself, but not sure if I can try testing with another laptop due usage of VPN, and different IP - viewtopic.php?p=363395&sid=e2e839498899 ... 8ebbf1bf01
Thanks,
Krists

1, Streaming requires a socket connection from your PC through to the betfair servers and any number of things can prevent that.... sometimes an update of internet security software (firewall etc) can break the connection so you could ensure auto updates are disabled for these.
Also it maybe your wifi so if not already doing so use a wired connection
However sometimes the Internet Service Provider network routing can change and suddenly streaming stops working, unfortunately there's not much you can do about that apart from change providers or if possible use a 5g mobile connection
Issues are rare, but when they occur they are difficult to fix and there are some users that never manage to connect with streaming with their internet service.
2, It can't auto switch to another, it needs manually doing by the user

Thank you, Dallas. If I won`t be able to solve/identify the issue, do you have an opinion on how real is getting penalized by Betfair if not a lot of bets are placed, while using polling streaming option (bets are placed, but not on every market, most interested currently in tennis)?
Will try disabling auto updates, and wired connection and see if anything helps.

Just an update - issue has not repeated since I changed refresh rate from 20ms to 100 ms in Guardian, and to 400 ms in Betangel layout.
