"Netanyahu says Iran made 'big mistake' and 'will pay for it'."
Don't get it. Iron Dome ie defence appears to have worked.
So now Israel are going to ramp it up a notch by retaliating (probably more effectively).
It's nuts. What are the most powerful people in that region really after. Right now it's just going to be more carnage and further entrenchment of hatred and mistrust.
How that region (amongst others) need some genuine leaders that care about their people and are prepared and capable to negotiate.

Oh flipping heck.
"UK military jets involved in Israel defence.
In just two sentences on Tuesday night Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that UK armed forces have again been involved in supporting Israel in the conflict in the Middle East.
"British forces have this evening played their part in attempts to prevent further escalation,” Healey said, adding: “I want to thank all British personnel involved in the operation for their courage and professionalism.”
I hope the govt know what they're doing there.
Bit early to get involved in a conflict to boost their ratings.

Having a strong defence does not excuse firing 200 ballistic missiles!greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:04 am"Netanyahu says Iran made 'big mistake' and 'will pay for it'."

Reading the Beeb this morning, I don't think there is any change of policy there. The Conservatives put the jets there many months ago (supported by Keir Starmer) and Labour are just carrying on with that decision, providing support when and where necessarygreenmark wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:14 amOh flipping heck.

While I can understand Israel wanting revenge, I would too. Someome with some sense must realise that they are breeding the next generation of killers to attack them at home and overseas. So the cycle is going to continue for another 100 years or so.
The danger for western countries is that they may well have more lone wolfs who will take revenge as the UK, US and others have seen over the previous years.
Israel has been breaking international law for years by occupying and expanding settlements. They wont change or accept a 2 state solution, so what do people do, just put up with it or get on a dingy ?

Russia and Iran Strengthen Ties with Plans to Link Russia to the Persian Gulf - we're f*cked
turning it the other way, one would imagine that you'd only need such a level of defence (iron dome) if you felt that you were an unwelcome intruder. Israel is by far the wealthiest nation in that part of the world and arguably, the newest nation, built from a largely european and russian population after ww2...Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 3:33 amHaving a strong defence does not excuse firing 200 ballistic missiles!greenmark wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:04 am"Netanyahu says Iran made 'big mistake' and 'will pay for it'."

We're not an aggressive nation but need a strong defence against Putin and terrorists, the latter of which have it in for us.
