Me again..
Anyone have an experience opening excel via betangel and your addins not being available ? it shows up in excel addins, but not in the COM addins. I can navigate to the file and try to add it, but something prevents it being added to the list. The addin works fine when just opening excel on it's own, but obviously I want to use this whilst opening via BA for it's functions to trade with.
Maybe some sort of registry editing needed ? I feel like I've had this issue before, but forum searches not turning up anything.

Tearing my hair out with this one, if I had any... Tried a multitude of things to get pyXLL to load in excel when opening via guardian, but no good. edited the excel start up folder to include it, done a few registry edits, no matter what I do it feels like Bet Angel loads Excel in some way to prevent the excel COM type addins, the ribbon doesn't show it either. Hopefully someone knows if this is the case or if there's a work around ? Will drop support a message, really need to be able to access this.
Never edit the registry. I can't answer you question otherwise.Nero Tulip wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 1:18 pmMe again..

yeah been there and done that and suffered before. however on this occasion and with much help from gpt, I seem to have succeeded. though, if anyone is actually going to look this up in the future, i'm afraid I can't confirm exactly which step produced the desired results - i tried too many things, only that i'd recommend doing a deep dive with chatgpt and hope for the best. whether or not all the toil has been worth it is another matter.
I have nearly always found that most Excel problems with add-ins failing to load is normally to do with Templates not saved correctly, your best solution is to head over to Stack Exchange and ask the guys over there, this is not the correct forum, no one else has replied so I assume they are not having the same trouble, so it is probably nothing to do with Bet Angel.Nero Tulip wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 7:53 pmyeah been there and done that and suffered before. however on this occasion and with much help from gpt, I seem to have succeeded. though, if anyone is actually going to look this up in the future, i'm afraid I can't confirm exactly which step produced the desired results - i tried too many things, only that i'd recommend doing a deep dive with chatgpt and hope for the best. whether or not all the toil has been worth it is another matter.
I suspect the problem is with Excel, we do not even know what version you are using, or what updates you have on there and I have to concur with greenmark, but if you do muck about with the registry make sure you create a restore point.

i remain convinced it is to do with the loading of excel via guardian. you can see the sort of initialisation process excel goes through when you load it normally, and compare it to how it instantly pops up through betangel. I suspect there are some safe guards within betangel to prevent certain addins being loaded easily, particularly COM addins, but I'm a lot less confident in that assertion than I am of it simply loading differently. It's a problem I've encountered before a long time ago when trying to load another predictive analytics addin, probably 10-15 years ago now, but I didn't have a high value assistant to help me out in that instance.conduirez wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 8:23 pmI have nearly always found that most Excel problems with add-ins failing to load is normally to do with Templates not saved correctly, your best solution is to head over to Stack Exchange and ask the guys over there, this is not the correct forum, no one else has replied so I assume they are not having the same trouble, so it is probably nothing to do with Bet Angel.Nero Tulip wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 7:53 pmyeah been there and done that and suffered before. however on this occasion and with much help from gpt, I seem to have succeeded. though, if anyone is actually going to look this up in the future, i'm afraid I can't confirm exactly which step produced the desired results - i tried too many things, only that i'd recommend doing a deep dive with chatgpt and hope for the best. whether or not all the toil has been worth it is another matter.

if you don't ask you don't find out if it is the right forum or not, the data comes with no replies... there's some great people on here who have helped me out in the past and who I've helped also.
