Not posted in a while as been super busy with other things but it's always nice to come back and read the threads. I particularly check this one to see what Derek's been upto. 🤣
Me too, he's not much of a chatty Cathy these days but still a reliable source of world news :)

It's not all politics though! Occasionally someone mentions trading :D

Report concludes Justin Welby failed to disclose all he knows about a paedophile who ruined dozens of lives within the church. Welby argues it doesn't matter, because he apologised.

Blimey!!!!

BREAKING:

Finland passes Europe’s toughest border bill!

The bill makes it possible to turn illegal migrants back at the border without registering their asylum request if they are recognized as part of a hybrid warfare operation.

Supermarket Christmas and Birthday cards do my head in - either vulgar nonsense, soppy sentimental tripe, or have a pre-written message inside that doesn't reflect my sentiments at all. Impossible to find even one that I'd buy.

Agreed. Shocked at the lack of quantity and quality of Christmas cards especially this year. I guess sending cards is slowly going out of fashion.

John Lewis had an decent range, but pricey.

Every time I go to buy a card for my Mam (birthdays, Xmas etc) they all say "Mum" no one I know calls their Mam "Mum" she'd give me a bat round the lug if I bought a card with Mum on  Maybe a northern southern thing Mam & Mum

I thought there were now online services where you can design your own card. Dunno for sure, 'cos I stopped sending them a while ago.
Pointless transfer of paper in the digital age. But I'm quite "bah humbug" when it comes to Xmas and its commercial excess. Important time of year for many though. Heigh-ho.

There are. The last card I sent my mother was a picture of me and my cat. You can write your own text and choose a layout as well.

+1 Derek. Ignore my "bah humbug". What could be better than a considered card from a loved one.

I always said Mum, in NZL it is Mum if I said Mam then I would use that if I was saying to a lady I would hold the door for her, it would be I will get that for you Mam. But I do remember Mrs Browns Boys always saying Mammy. Must be a Location thing, however you would think they would tailor it to the location.

The word that drives me crazy is when Americans say Math, I cant say it it is Maths surely as in Mathematics or is it Mathematic
