"Unable to open Excel" msg - after 24H2 update - Dec-24 - Fix

A new update for Win11 computers is rolling out in batches and it came to tempt me like an Amsterdam woman of the night on 5 Dec 24, and it caused major problems connecting to Excel, specifically in linking BetAngel to my work of art Excel betting template.

Bournemouth scored before I could fix it, meaning I lost about £12 in potential winnings because my little betting spreadsheet could not connect to the software and do my little betting strategy thing I've been trialling. Initially I naively thought the issue was with BetAngel and tried updating my version but that did not resolve the problem at all. I also tried changing 'compatibility' settings through the Microsoft troubleshooting tools, which didn't help either. Just made the resolution a bit fuzzy in one case. I even tried the BetAngel diagnostics tool. Which are quite good actually. But no. It was the new Win11 update. I advise users in a similar position to check their usual Excel version connects ok straight AFTER the Win11 24H2 update, especially those not using a skynet Office 365 version already.

TLDR - Potential fix
To fix the issue, I uninstalled the recent new fandango Saas Office version that had recently appeared in my app list and quickly reinstalled my original 2021 Office package, which somehow restored the connection to excel perfectly when I asked BetAngel to link again, for what was probably the 12th time that evening.

Phew. There's literally nowhere on the net that explains this falling out between the two programs. It's quite a fresh problem I think. There is some nuance on sites about things that used to work within the Office package now going a bit haywire in some niche places with 24H2. This is one of those niche places I appreciate. So beware if you're an excel lover. Don't be a Bournemouth bet bottler like me and bumble about like a basic bet boy.
