The universal rules around Poker remain the same.

Based on Pot Odds, you can work out when to Bet, Raise or Call, Preflop and Postflop based on Risk and StackSize.

Poker is not Rocket Science, ultimately, it’s based on Maths and occasionally, Bluffing.

I use random bluffing depending on table and player play but again only if the Pot Odds are worth the risk.
You can't beat face to face poker, you can forget the pot odds and just play the player.

Says the guy who hasn't played for 20yrs, but I still dine out on being knocked out of the first Poker Million in 12th by Tony Bloom. Dead in the water and just trying to limp to the televised game. I wonder what happened to Tony?

Nice one. No idea where he is now..... 8-)

Around that time, I played a pot limit tournament in Amsterdam. It was a poker variant I was trying to learn, and through more luck than judgement, accumulated a stack of chips getting down to the last 3 tables. I needed help from one of the dealers to bring the chips over to a new table.

As I took my seat, I noticed an empty seat to my left with as many chips. I wondered who it was as I sat down to appraise the other players stacks and who I could pick on and bully. Then, in walks the Devilfish and takes the seat to my left. Dynamics massively change and the first thing he says to me, "Don't think about taking my big blind"

Needless to say, on the first orbit, everyone folded to my small blind, I raise the pot, Devilfish re-raises the pot, I fold. "Told you son, leave my big blind alone" I scraped in the money in 16th and he went on to finish 2nd to Rob Hollink another Pot limit holdem crusher of the time.

Got a quite a few anecdotes around that time that includes the Hendon Mob and some of the old guard.

:D that's funny.
It was a good era, LNP on channel 4, the old guard like Texas Dolly and the young pretenders like Phil Helmuth.

I'd played online a lot and went to my first tourney down at Brighton casino. I hadn't realised that there wasn't a dealer until it got to 10 tables...made a real dogs breakfast of that. Then struggled cos I'd no idea how much was in the pot (no handy display), no idea how much I had, or anyone else. Talk about a baptism of fire.

2007 - 2010

$9/$18 (limit poker) pink chip game at the Commerce Casino played with $3 chips. The most amazing limit game I have ever consistently played in. I think the mountain like pots created by the weird chip denomination made ppl lose touch with reality.

Poker, manually or automated is based on Pot Odds, over 1,200 rules preflop and 19,000 rules post flop. My bot can make a decision in less than 1 second but I randomise it from 1 to 6 seconds which above other things keeps the poker rooms guessing as to am I a real person or Bot.
Interesting.

I was a profitable player but think i was only managing about £2 an hour online. Insanely better live though.

I have the poker know how. May start this as a side project its the programming side that will be a struggle knowing how to get it to respond to the poker table software
You need constantly updated table maps per poker site as they regularly update them if you go the full automated route.

Example fore Preflop play:

When (hand = AA or hand = KK or hand = QQ or hand = JJ or hand = AK SUITED)
When Raises = 0 RaiseMin Force Delay 6
When Raises = 1 RaisePot Force Delay 6
When Raises > 1 RaiseMax Force Delay 6
When Others Call Force Delay 6

The Delay 6 means it waits from 0 to 6 seconds randomly before making an action. That keeps the players at the table and poker rooms administrators guessing as to if you are real or a Bot.
Been thinking about this. It's too uniform.

The randomisation should be more like a bell shaped curve than uniform randomness. Got GPT to tidy up my thoughts:

Timing Settings
Human-Like Decision Times: Most human players take actions within predictable ranges depending on the situation. For example:
Pre-Flop: Quick decisions (e.g., fold or call) usually take 1-4 seconds. Thoughtful decisions take 5-10 seconds.
Post-Flop: Decisions may range from 4-15 seconds, with occasional longer pauses for complex spots.
Rivers or All-In Calls: These decisions can extend from 15-45 seconds to mimic genuine deliberation.
Pattern Creation:

Cluster most decisions around typical human response times watching back recordings of human play and occasionally add outliers for variety.

Your bots are detectable, the site obviously just doesn't care - probably focusing on the bigger fish.
