It reminds me there used to be a betting coach who sold courses on how to recognise the potential winners as the race round the final bend into the straight. Can't remember his name nor if his teachings were successful.Euler wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2026 3:15 pmIf you learn to understand the pace in a race, things will begin to make a lot more sense.Mr Undercover wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2026 2:33 pmIs it just me or did the style of that win in the 14.20 Ayr look a bit dodgy... Pleasington came from a furlong back and flew past the leading pack like it had just joined the race. Bizarre.
If it was that late in the race, then pretty certain it wasn't successful. Probably v high strike rate and then get wiped by a Pleasington or similar every few days.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 5:32 pmIt reminds me there used to be a betting coach who sold courses on how to recognise the potential winners as the race round the final bend into the straight. That may be the case with the NH races where the field is more strung out but he was referring to flat where they come round the final bend bunched in more of a group. Anyway it's just a shared memory.
If anything I would say flat would be worse, everything happens so quickly. 20 yards in a second etc...There is no time to get out and no obstacles and early pace can be critical for the fast closers. That course would definitely not be for me!firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 9:04 pmThat may be the case with the NH races where the field is more strung out but he was referring to flat where they come round the final bend bunched in more of a group.
