Hi Enzabella

Thanks for the tip. :) Unfortunately, I didn't back Tottenham in the end.

Re: City having a 36% chance - Is that according to the Betfair odds, or your own calculations?

I'm not going to bet on the game, but I fancy City. After their defeat in Europe, their pride will be hurt, and they'll be out to prove a point. And as they showed at Old Trafford the other week, playing away from home in a local derby isn't something they struggle with...

It was according to a quick calculation. Maybe on betfair is slightly higher then 36%. The market is giving the draw the least result but, I may trade on the draw tomorrow..

good luck

City may have overtaken Barcelona as the best team in the world.

City are currently on 38 points, whereas Baracelona are on just 31 points, 3 points behind Real Madrid (who have a game in hand): http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/spain/liga/

Early days yet, the way Barcelona train they are only set up physically to really start firing now. I've seen both teams live in the past year and honestly a fully firing Barca would murder them. City are on a great run but can't even get out of their CL group stage, compare that to 2 CL titles and one semi final in 3 years with 3 straight titles in that period. The current Barca team are more dominant than any of the great recent english teams and nobody could seriously compare city to the United team of 99, the Arsenal invincibles or even the Chelsea team of Mourino yet.

Going purely on recent form there's an argument for saying Real Madrid are the best team in Europe (at the moment), I think it's 14 straight wins in all competitions for them now.

El classico is next week btw, wouldn't want to miss that one :D

It's safe to say Barca would take city to pieces at this stage, im still not convinced they will win the PL even.

don't get carried away Jeff, it was only Wolves.

i've got a manure supporter mate (from south east London naturally) who advised me to lay them early on this season when everyone was getting carried away with their football - this side is not a patch on their previous sides; players like Evans wouldn't get in a Championship team and Ferdinand has had too much weed and needs to hang his boots up.

Fergie knows that UEFA are making it so that teams will need to have more home-grown players. So that might be why he's keeping some players who he might normally sell to a team like Preston (if they hadn't sacked his son! ).

And don't forget that Fergie has proven himself quite good over the years at spotting players with hidden potential.

There was a time when lots of people thought a certain Christiano Ronaldo was a waste of a good pair of football boots!

And let's not forget a certain well paid football pundit, who declared that you couldn't win anything with kids!

Ferdinand isn't as young as he once was - even Fergie admits that.

And I wonder whether Ferdinand is one of those guys like Beckham who isn't content to just be a footballer, but also wants to be a celebrity, which maybe takes some of his focus off the game.

I won't pretend that all is rosy in the garden, but people have written Man U off time and again over the years, only to be proven wrong...

Have to agree re. Evans - the guy is a liability.

Strange to think that fergie fancied him more than Pique. Still didn't work out for Pique did it...

Re. Evans - I think Fergie has a bit of a soft spot for players who aren't massively skillful, but work bloody hard and can be relied on to grind out a 0-1 win on a rainy December night.

That would explain the presence in the squad of guys like Park Ji-Sung, Darren Fletcher and Anderson.

And also, unless you have a virtually unlimited budget like City and Chelsea, it's not always possible to fill every position with a flair player...

If Evans was solid and reliable but lacking in real "class" then I could live with that in a central defender but he isn't any of those things.
He has had a couple of 'mares that have cost United in big games and just don't think he can be trusted when push comes to shove. His decision making is often questionable and don't think he has what it takes to be a Man United player.
Still I think it's fair to say that Ferguson knows more than me so who am I to criticise?

Gary Neville made a few howlers in his time, but was still a bloody good servant of the club overall.

I think Fergie will have read Evans the riot act and basically said 'Start concentrating, or I'll send you to Coventry - literally!'.

If Chelsea ought to be the favourites, then they are the value bet of the season at 9.6...
