Hi all,

I will soon start sports Abritrage for the first time and wondered if anyone had any advice before I started? Any pro's / con's or just general tips before I get on my way.

I know there is a host of information out there but wanted to get the view and opinions of the trusted members of BA.

Cheers guys,
Matt

I have also looked at arbets.com but this site is a waste of time. It asks for £75 sign up fee which looks great until you realise thats how they make their money. I still got my subscription but as soon as I see the bet the odds time out or dont exist. Ive had my members page open and there havent been any arbs but then on the free page it says here is a real arb which will get you £59 profit from £1000 but only available for members and its been active for 289 minutes. I look on my paid page and its not there lol.. ???

Personally I would avoid arb bets as they are to risky. Trading seems so much more realistic as you can deal with one software and betting exchange rather than have registering with nearly every bookie possible and jumping from site to site. The other thing that is similar to arb betting that I and a friend had no problems with is fixtheodds but cause you rely on free bets you can only really do it once but its how I got to betfair, learnt about laying and now I am learning how to trade.

Good luck!!!

Arbing is a dead duck.
You may win a small amount and recycle the sign up bonuses. But in reality you won't get on, if you do it will be for pennies.
The bookies hate this, they flag up arbers in hours and close you down.

Yes, and some of them have "gotcha" T&Cs so that if you try to withdraw, they can delete the bonus and all profits made with the bonus as well.

Be careful, be very careful.

I started on this 'world' using the freebets to build a bank, this was how I was introduced to betfair in the first place and I'm really thankful to the person who told me about this. Curiously his brother in law is a professional arber.

He's the hermit style of person and I've tried a couple of times to get in touch with him but simply can't. But got to know he's doing pretty well.

I tried it. Paid alot of money for arbets. and didnt make a penny. The websites they make you join are very dodgy and lets say for example you got £1000 which you need to split to make £30 profit. You go to the first site and put a bet on for £700 and then the next site you need to put on £300. You can guarantee that the next part of the process the odds would of changed so you cant put down £300.. You need to put down £500. But your only going to get back £1030 and you bet £1500 so your in a loss. So you are now hoping that the first bet comes off otherwise your going to loose £700 of your money which you could of done anyway.

I think most on this site looks at arb bets at one stage but its super risky and you have to wait a long time to get your winnings. Me and my mate shared an account and was watching it from 7am - 2am. Arbs came up but they only lasted for 1minute even though the site said the arb was up for 15 minutes..lol. Stick to trading. Ive been practicing for 3 months and now started playing with real money. Scalping and swing trades are something you should look into.

Good luck!!!

Anything that involves the bookies is a very dangerous game imo,

ive been screwed so many times by them over the years, you just never know if your going to get paid or not.

I think arbing opportunities have been stamped out by bookies. It's only useful for a short time because they close you down pretty quick.

I used to lay BF prices and back with a bookie when they hadn't altered the price of a steamer yet. You'd sometimes see a 20-25% difference. I made shedloads, and I started with 14 fixed odds bookmakers accounts. One by one they closed me down, eventually leaving me with just 2. I then started paying PC with BF too, so this destroyed the edge anyway. I needed those 2 accounts for bailing me out when BF has major crashes, so I stopped arbing.

Had a great run though, good luck to anyone who has some nice touches from it

That's really interesting. Were you doing this on the horse racing market?

I would suppose you should have won more often on the bookies rather than on betfair, so it's strange you started paying PC? Or were you putting more strategies in play?

I have personally heard many people who have claimed that some bookies refused to pay their winning tickets. Some other bookies put a limitation to their bets like 2 euros max and other bigger bookmakers closed their account after few bets...

I was limited to cents in some bookies and had one account closed... And I was not arbing...
