Hi,
I am completely new to the world of Bet Angel but I have been doing my research etc before I decide to dive in. And I have decided that I will start by scalping horse races (in practice mode ofcourse) but I am wondering where the experienced traders get their live feeds and commentary on the horse races from? I dont plan to trade in play but I understand that a comment made before the race can swing the odds so I want to make sure I am as up to date as I can be without spending a fortune. I have At The Races on my sky box but I understand there is a slight delay on satellite feeds. Any advice is appreciated thanks
Newbie question about watching live races
If you place a bet on the underlying markets both Betfair and Betfaq provide live video feeds and this feed is actually pretty fast and suitable for most people.

If you get the live feed from betfair, you are getting ATR and racing uk for the last 2/3 mins before the start of the race. I use it mainly just to be able to trade right up till the start of the race.
Oh are these faster than the saterlite pictures ??Boing wrote:If you place a bet on the underlying markets both Betfair and Betfaq provide live video feeds and this feed is actually pretty fast and suitable for most people.

RuK is faster of the 2 "sky" channels. Example: Watch a race from Dubai, the RUK race is at least a second faster.
Betfair video is perfectly adequate for pre race trading, it is close to tv nowadays.
re: In Play, this is a different ball game. If you are reacting to what you see on the screen using conventional pics, your too late. The cheats on course have already had the money. Watch the prices change when a horse falls, and it's still 20 yds from even jumping the fence, that will give you an idea what you are up against.
Saying that, I make a substantial part of my income from in play betting. I have no access to fast pictures and have Sky and RUK. I do this by understanding what I am doing and what I want to achieve. Not by having a fast picture. The way i would describe it is to liken it to someone like Ryan Giggs. He is getting on now, and has lost a great deal of pace. But his experience of the game and reading of a situation means he often picks out a pass ot intercepts the ball quicker than his 20 yo opponent. "He knows what he is doing"!!
Best advice I can give is understand the market and don't get hung up on how big the delay is.
