My advice to any newbies, would be that whilst I appreciate that everyone has an opinion (wanted to get that one in first before Jeff has a go at me! :D ), be very selective as to who you take advice from.
I would say 'be very selective about what advice you take', not 'be very selective about whose advice you take'.

Use your critical faculties to work out what is and isn't likely to work, and then test your theories.

Just because a pro says something, that doesn't mean you can get it to make you money (without knowing exactly what they do, which they won't reveal). Similarly, I'm sure that sometimes newbies come out with great ideas (possibly because they are approaching the subject matter with fresh eyes, and can see things that others might miss).

Lingfield is holding up well considering the quality of the racing and on an AW surface.

I wonder if the liquidity/real money around of the other two courses helps the stability of the Lingfield markets.

I am tempted to just trade the racing Thursday - Saturday at the moment. Markets are a lot better.

The markets seem to be zipping along today, not sluggish for a sat 3pm etc.
On the auto trading front; I just took a note of the number of bets I placed prior to the 15:20 and they were around the 300 tx
This seems higher than normal (i haven't changed anything)
I always watch the markets closely at the start of each new month to see if anything has changed (new bot gets introduced/testing etc)
Thank god its March!

Races going off on time and the lack of clashes seem to be helping today compared to previous saturdays

Btw I dont know if it was my connection but someof my bets took a while longer to show up on the software than they normally do, hope betfair's ok

Lol this couldn't have gone any worse today. I think every time I get on a trend it viciously turns, I can't get out or I don't pick it quick enough.

It's time to wave the white flag and just stick to football I think.

And another £30 spunked on the 15:35 when the fav starts coming in but wants to reverse again. Impossible and pure random I'm convinced.

Do you only look for trends? That last race (very competitive with lots of evenly priced runners) wasn't very well set up for swing trading

I'm having a tough day too Mark - Hgodden is right - not all these races are right for swing trading (IMHO).

On days like this where it doesn't seem to be going for you - just scale things back and protect your bank. Don't start trying to chase your losses.

I'm just scalping now, completely lost all confidence today.

I don't try and swing everything but I admit I struggle with knowing when to let my profits run.

I can regularly make 3 figures trading football pre off so I'll just stick with that now. I've been studying the horse stuff for 2 years now and I think I have to just accept it's beaten me.

Mill I Am in the 16:45 is the exact type of fav that confuses me. Trades in a narrow range, breaks through and just keeps going and going. It feels like every time I jump on this type of move it reverses back to the narrow range it had been trading in all day.

On low quality days I tend to trade break outs.
