On many races towards the latter stages, we get large spikes like the attached.
From memory, Im fairly sure we have always had them..but have they always been so large when compared with the general in running amount?
I may be imagining it, but they seem to be getting bigger and bigger? Any thoughts?

When i see on ausy racing there is nearly always 790 matched on every horse at the same time right at the end, and its always for a +0 amount. Is this something you would be familiar with? Quite often some of them dip right back in.
My honest thoughts are probably someone is running the book and not as much money is matched as people believe at any given time. You can watch a 50/1 preoff and you see a tight spread trading away none stop, but i have my doubts as to whether a battle is really going on. You only have to compare horses to football and see the big spreads in football and realise there are not that many people betting at any given time?
