Don't know if anybody else has spotted this character, but possibly a more persistent characteristic than before. Just seen it on the 17:05 at Uttox. I can't work out whether it is people panicking to get out, or whether somebody is waiting till really late to put a big lump on.
Right in the dying seconds, just before the start, the money comes flooding in to back the favourite. Curious but worth a pop in most races where there is a short priced favourite.
The plunge

Was it not just because it was coming out with a clear lead?

From the Racing Post comments about the race:
"Led to 3rd, led again 8th, reminders approaching 4 out, driven along after next, edged left before last, stayed on under pressure (op 6-4 tchd 7-4 and 2-1 in places)"
