Irish Government talking about taxing betting

Im sure alot of you are not aware that there is a general election here in less than 3 weeks .
i was listening to there debate tonight ,
And im troubled to here that two of the possible winners have proposed a taxation on betting to raise there much needed moneys ,
although no one has given any details of how it would be introduced,
im very concerned about this,
it would change the exchange in this country and thats not a good thing,
