Hi guys. Would like some advice please on the above bot.
The reason I was so keen to get the bot running was to catch those horses that steam in all day, from early morning. I was going to set my timers for 8 hours from race time to 5 minutes before the race. Greening up 30 seconds before. And my trigger was 20 ticks (too large?). Also I was going to go back to the last traded price by 1800 seconds (30 minutes). Does that sound ok to the more experienced of you?
Thanks
Trading gambled horses. Advice please.
If your running this type of bot over such a long period of time it might be worth adding a trailing stop you will often see horses come in for a few hours early morning then for one reason or another start to drift back out in the afternoon or closer the the off time and you could lose all the profit you have made if it does this, depending on how you have your rule set up if it does drift back out and you get stopped out then your rule can be told to back it a 2nd time if its starts to come in again.
Yes Dallas, but I was prepared to take the risk until you mentioned a trailing stop loss.
Bearing in mind you are talking to a real numbty where this automation mullarkey is concerned.
How exactly do you place a trailing stop loss on this bot and where would you put it?
Apart from that, do my timings/settings look good to you?
Thank you again.

What you have stated is a starting point to work from but its difficlut to say how effective the timings you have chosen will be until its been tried, as with all automation and even manual trading stratergies its trial and error and a lot of fine tuning which produces profitable stratergies. (just as the trailing stop is just a suggestion you can try as you experiment)
My advice would be to run it in PM for a few days (or use small stakes) and keep checking the results if your not getting enough matches then try altering the timings, if your getting matched but taking losses then look at changing the number of tick movements required before it triggers etc.
To answer your question on trailing stop, if you go into edit the rule then on the parameters tab you will see a global settings area, there is a drop down box next to action - this is where you can set your trailing stop or to have it place a offset bet and green if it has moved a X number of ticks and you want to take that profit rather than wait till 30secs before the off
Also have a look at this page it has links for everything you need to know about getting started with automation
