Customers may be trading against API users, who are subject to different arrangements for in-play markets. The Smarkets API is made available to liquidity providers, among which is Hanson Applied Sciences Limited (a company in the same group of companies as Smarkets).

Markets subject to an in-play betting delay
Markets subject to an in-play betting delay are not managed. This means that markets will not be halted when there is a material event (for example a goal, penalty or red card). It is therefore important that users manage their in-play bets at all times.

Unfortunately it also says the onus is on you not to bet after the event and that if you do it will be voided :(

Anyone ever tried  ?

Ultimately you need food to eat, else you will need to eat each other.

I like the fact that they offer streaming quotes and subscriptions to order updates.

One thing is for sure the markets they have on there site are a breeze to navigate around especially for joe public who may never have used an exchange before - and everything loads so much faster.

How did you get access to their API?

This is all from memory :-)

When they started out I played around a bit with their api. Must be something like 5 years ago? Back then I asked for a key, and they were happy to give it to me. It felt like I was dealing with a bunch of very passionate people excited about their ideas. It's good to see they are still in business and apparently doing well.

Just checked, can't even log in anymore, at least not with the password I thought I had.

Those figures look very impressive - are they manipulated? or are they genuine?
Wow I'd be interested in this as well if their footy really is as liquid as Betfair's. Didn't hear many reports about people trading over there, would be nice if they don't ban winners.

I use Smarkets as a matched bettor for their lower 2% commission, their prices generally mirror those of betfair although they can leap about wildly at times, I also find that there can be a slight lack of liquidity in the markets occasionally and some markets are not available such as 1st goalscorer for example, but aside from that I find their website uncluttered and easy to use.

My friend also uses Smarkets for that purpose because he loves their low 2% commission, but I don't know about anyone actually trading there. The main worry would obviously be that they don't allow anyone winning there long term, if they themselves seed all of that money :)

I think that was a one off situation wasn't it kai, where someone was using 3 exchanges and the market makers didn't like what they were doing if I remember correct? I don't think they are banning all winners if you are just trading on their exchange??

It would be nice to get their input on the questions about the api and software as they use to comment on smarket threads on here.

I don't know or can't remember the situation that you are referring to Steven but it would be great if we could get some feedback from them on all of these subjects.

Looks like paddyfair got a rival here. Check the money traded on the first at Chelt.
