I've twice been taken out in Brazil tonight, either by someone with fast pics or a slow suspend monkey. He never suspends when you need him to!

Brazil has a lot of football traders, not looked at a Brazil match in ages but their ladders should be a bit more competitive

Where do you get your alt info feed? Some footy guys I know use Optima (Betfair's source) or Lsports to cross check with Betfair.

And I've no idea of the video delay but my son watches most of his sport on https://www.totalsportek.to/ so that might be faster than the Betfair vid/graphic?

Sounds like you need to up your game, just using Betfair data seems to cause you a lot of problems. There'll be people at the tech meet up who'll tell you how to mitigate your risk, or you can keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome ;) ;)

That's why I like Brazil. I usually do well there. In theory, it shouldn't be possible to place a bet after a goal, 5 seconds is more than enough.

I'm just using the Betfair graphic, but to be honest with you, I don't spend much time watching it, I keep my eyes on the ladder. My automation usually detects a drop in liquidity and cancels back bets.

How do you get tickets for the tech meet-up?

The information shown in the BF graphic comes from the same person suspending/unsuspending the match, and what you see is always going to be subjective and the opinions of whoever is monitoring the match

Well, some will try to anticipate goals as well...

I know you're used to complaining about delay but it's there for your protection as well. Have a look how barren tennis markets are as the market makers get no protection against courtsiders and the like.

Is somebody actively managing the market? Shaun says most of it is automatic and the suspend monkey doesn't really exist?

I'm not sure if this link works...

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/betfair- ... 7179221357

I'm thinking of going to this one, there's some ML stuff I want to find out about. 2024 next year and I need to get on top of it. If you're going it might sway me, aithough at nearly 400ml for the round trip and a late drive home it's a bit of a pain.

Someone has to provide the data to power the graphics

It looks like it's fully booked. Shame, for me it would have been just a 1 hour 50 minute train journey and short walk. What the hell is social darts?

Well that was the impression I got and I'm happy to be corrected, we'll know soon...... I've just asked the question where Betfair will see it and hopefully reply.

But I won't be surprised if the exact mechanics of it aren't public knowledge as it would be an operational risk.

... Apparently the gold standard for live info is Runningball, but it's not cheap.

That's a shame, we'll have to go next time. It's a sign of how pro-active people are though if its booked up again, but not surprising when tech can make such a big difference these days.

I think social darts is just pub darts, like winner stays on pool....ie not some sort of competition.

I'd imagine now the scouts work for 1 or maybe 2 data providers, and the bookies and betfair etc pay these providers for the feed then build on any automation there end and display to the end user

It's a booming industry, data collection from agents and AI "watching" the action on remote cameras, tracking info from wearables, value adding businesses such as graphics and overlays for TV broadcasters, and I think bizarrely shot speed is subcontracted to Oracle, like the F1 stuff is subcontracted to AWS.

It's come a long way fast.
